"Hey! Abby! Focus, please!" Kayla shouted, and I jerked.
"What! Sorry, I'm here," I said, putting on my seatbelt and laughing.
The scene with Chad at my locker that morning had been what was distracting me all damn day. So badly, in fact, I hadn't been able to concentrate on anything else.
Not a single damn thing.
"You ready?" She asked, and I nodded. I pulled out of my driveway and drove in the direction of the bowling alley. The sun was shining and I was in a much better mood now that school was over for the day.
"Do you know what happened today?" I asked, and she smirked.
"Of course I do, Abby. I was standing across the hall when it happened, not to mention all of his friends were talking about it," she said, and I stopped at a stop sign.
"Abby! Oh my gosh, get out! I'm driving!" Kayla shouted, and I blinked several times to snap myself out of my daydream. I had been sitting at the intersection for at least thirty seconds.
"Yeah, sorry, I just can't stop thinking about it, it's weird," I said, getting into the passenger seat and checking my face in the mirror.
"I know why," she said with a smirk, and I scoffed.
"Care to enlighten me?" I asked.
"You're attracted to him, and he is attracted to you, it's obvious!" She said, and I laughed.
"I mean, I guess. I thought you were gonna say I liked him, and I was like no," I laughed, and Kayla suppressed a smile. "You think I like him, don't you?" I asked, and she nodded, not taking her eyes off the road.
"Bitch, I am not that susceptible to that boy's charm. If we had anything, it would be totally physical, no feelings," I said.
"Mmm, whatever," she said, and we pulled into the parking lot of the bowling alley. I looked around and one vehicle especially caught my attention.
"Did you tip him off?" I asked, turning to Kayla.
"What?" She asked, and I pointed to the black truck across the small parking lot.
"Did you tell him we were gonna be here?" I asked.
"I mentioned it, but I didn't know he'd come," she said nervously.
"Ah, whatever. He won't bother us, right?" I asked, stepping out of the jeep and fixing my jacket.
"Hah, he won't bother me. Can't say the same for you," she said, and I frowned and slammed the door with my phone in my hand. We walked in and paid for a game. We only had time for one because of our movie.
"Well, well. Look who it is, Miss Abigail," he said from behind me.
"Chad," I responded bluntly, sitting in a chair before he sat down next to me.
"Nice seeing you here, huh?" He asked, and I scoffed.
"Speak for yourself," I said, and got up from my chair. I walked to the lane and passed Kayla, where she stopped to whisper in my ear.
"Good luck," she said, walking away. I frowned in response and picked up my bowling ball before positioning myself to throw. I swung my hand back and forward and released, and watched as it rolled across the floor before hitting the pins to make a perfect strike.
I turned and walked back to my seat, where Chad was still seated.
He started slowly clapping, and I smirked before it quickly fell when I saw who I never wanted to see again.
