Tempting darkness

Riku's POV

" Come out spirit. I can feel your presence around here." I yelled. A single greenish white orb appeared in the center of the room. " Okay, now what do you what, did you take this girl's sister." The orb didn't say anything, but began to shift into a wolf like animal.

" So it was you!!" I shot at it. The wolf's greenish eyes looked at me wary. " You're different somehow."

Yes, well you see I had to borrow some power from an old friend of Cole's. He's a ghost like him, and just as the one that came before me and bonded with the Overlord. I have done the same. It sneered. Now, It's time has come to get rid of you and the ninja

" Get out of the way!!!" I turn around. Cole flew from the wall and tackled the beast knocking into or through the neighboring wall. I jumped back in shock of what just happened.

" Riku, what was that?" She whimpered. I turned around and grabbed her by the shoulders.

" Lily I need you to go back to my house and stay there until it's safe to come back."

" But-"

" No, but's you need to go!!" I pushed her towards the door, and she ran off. I turned around to face the wall they fell through. " Here it goes."

My pendant glowed brightly and my eyes glowed a turquoise green. With the help of the spirits I was able to have the powers of a ghost, but that also put me at greater risk in getting hurt in battle.

" Cole!' I yelled creating an orb of power and shooting it at the wolf. " Are you okay?" I helped him get up.

" Yeah, but you're a ghost?" He asked looked at me with confusion.

" It one of my many surprises." I smiled.

How, dare you use the powers of a ghost against me!!! The wolf roared. Shaking the house causing some of the windows to crack. Let me show you what true powers of an ghost are like!!!

A portal opened at the bottom of the floor. " Oh, no!" I gasped.

" What?"

" He opened a portal into the Spirit Realm. Hang on!!" A flash of light sent us flying into a spiral. I could get us out of this, but the problem was I wasn't completely use to opening up a Spirit portal.

Now the tables have turned....he growled. Here I have many friends...

" That voice! Morrow, how did you get here?" Cole stammered.

Oh, I've see you've noticed my new upgrade. Now ghost let me show you what it truly mean to have these paranormal powers. Everything comes at an price and I see that you haven't truly accepted your power nor the price....he growled.

" Err." Cole growled. " That's it!!" He lunged at him with his hand armed and ready. It was an battle of ghost, and her ghost can get hurt. My eyes glowed again ending my powers. The thing was the humans can't get hurt in here. So I had to do this the hard way.

" Cole, stop you can't win like this!!! Ghost can get hurt here, turn back to your human form!!!" I yelled. Cole stopped but at that moment a swipe of the wolf's claw sent him flying to a wall. I ran to him. " Hey, are-Cole?"

He got up, but something wasn't right with him. His eyes glowed red and his nail turned to claws. " No, I've accepted the price, but with it I have more power than before. Here I can truly be a leader!!!" I growled. Idiot! I thought. I pulled out an retractable spear from my pocket.

" What did you do to him!!" I yelled striking the creature in the arm. It screeched in pain.

I just showed him a glimpse of what he could truly be in his ghost form!!! He hissed.

" Riku, stay out of this. I can be him." He stated. I turned to him.

" Cole snap out of it. You're not thinking straight. You're letting the darkness take control of you!" I yelled trying to get a hold of him. He was totally lost, and flew past me knocking me over and attacking the creature again. I jumped to me feet. This isn't right. Cole's body began to change, and wings sprouted from behind his shoulder. Black scales formed at his neck. It was like he was transforming into a dragon.

Now do you see what I mean, Cole!!! The beast yelled. I closed my eyes and summoned my ghost powers again. I had to fight me like this. I ran towards him tackling Cole to the ground.

" What are you doing!!!" Cole roared. I brought out me necklace. Tears rolled down my eyes.

" I'm sorry, but I have to do this for our know good! Don't worry I'll bring you back!" I cast the spell and began sucking Cole spirit into the jewel.

" No!! Argh!!!, Riku!!!" Cole's dragon body disappeared. Not for good though, but just enough to knock him out.

Heh!! Don't' worry we'll see each other around very soon. Times running out!!

The beast disappeared and we were back in the kitchen of Lily's house. I looked at the necklace. I could see Cole locked away in it. Past out and weary. I don't blame him, I've seen how the darkness and take over one's soul. I clutch the necklace close to me chest. A tear rolled down my cheek. " I'm sorry, Cole. I'll find a way to help you get through this."

I knew in my heart he hasn't accepted this new life, and that he could never be the same Cole again. I've seen it. I've seen his doubt and fear. Now it's taken it's form inside of Cole. We have to stop this beast, but how?
