Cole's POV
The night sky still seemed dark and only a few colors glistened in the sky. I looked down to my arms to still see Riku, asleep in them. I gave a small sigh of relief and calmness. This was what I've been wanting all of my life. I was getting sick of the constant war that we had to face everyday. Now, we were at peace. I look up to the sky again, and begin to wonder. The world was a big place and the sky covered it all.
I wonder what Ninjago is doing now. I thought to myself. We were still in the middle of our battle with the ghost and Morrow. I begin to wonder if they realize that I'm gone. I begin to wonder if this was the same feelings that Zane felt when he entered into this world. If he fell in love.
*wind picking up*
" That doesn't sound good." I whispered to myself. The wind began to howl suddenly. Something wasn't right. Riku began to wake up from the noise.
" What's going on?" she mumbled still half asleep.
" I'm not sure, but it doesn't sound good." I told her. I began to feel a weird sensation from when that creature showed up. " Riku-"
" Yeah, it's here. I could feel its energy coming towards us." she got up, her eyes glowing turquoise as her powers activated. I was ready too, gripping my hands into a fist. The ground beneath us began to shake. A streak of wind and dust surrounded us. The sky was no longer clear but dusty and cloudy. This continued for a few more minutes and then everything went still. We looked around, trying to find the Netherling.
* branch crack*
" Come out, Netherling!" Riku yelled. " It's useless to hide now!" she yelled. I wasn't sure if that was a good idea or not, but it was too late. The bushes shook a bit, and slowly a pair of green glowing eyes emerge from the surrounding darkness. I shuddered a bit from the energy that came from it.
" What do you want with us?" I asked it. The Netherling crept from out of the bush and growled softly.
What I want is the both of you...but the girl will do for now...at least until my Master as taken better control of his daughters....It hissed. I growled back at it.
" Over my dead body." I hissed back at him.
Fine, we'll have to do this the hard way then!!! He snarled and ran towards Cole and I with fangs and ghostly claws aimed and sharp. I raised his fist and the earth rose and my ghost form possessed the stones and created a rock giant. Riku on the other hand called out my spirit friends and became invisible.
" What?!" I gasped. " You can turn invisible?"
" Aren't I just full of surprises-Cole on your left!" she warned me, and I turned around and blocked his attack and punched the wolf right into a tree.
You have no future in Ninjago or here, Cole!!! Can't you see that the ice never lies!!! He snarled.
" I do have a future and you know that better than anyone else, so quiet the mind tricks!!" I yelled back.
The wolf turned towards Riku and so did I. She returned to her normal human form, but the ground beneath us began to quake.
Girl..you know what powers you possess, and now you'll open the spirit realm to send me back!!!..He hissed. I turned towards the creature.
" What do you mean?!"
" Cole, I think you know what he mean, and now I do too! Don't you see I can get into the Spirit Realm and that connects to every dimension in our world, including yours. Somehow I must had brought you from there to here!" she yelled. " I'm sorry! This is all my fault, and now I've put you and the others in danger!!" I shook my head.
" No! You didn't, thanks to you I've found another reason not to give up, and keep fighting. I've found you." I smiled. The tears from her eyes faded and smiled back.
Oh, how sweet...The Netherling hissed. I'm afraid I'm going to have to cut your love life short...He snarled and lunged at me again. This time his jaws gripped his arm and in agony I flew out of the rocks which crushed the creature's head.
" Argh!" I yelled limping to the ground.
" Cole are you-" I held out my hand and nodded. I limped back to my feet and stared into death itself.
" You won't win. I learned what had happened the last time this fight took place." I smirked.
Oh, a miscalculation...but I have the real powers of a Netherling the real thing that Yuki banished years ago...You won't win...
The wind began to pick up and the trees began to sway. The storm was coming, and there was only one way of stopping it. By killing this monster. Riku stepped in front of me holding out her stone.
" Riku?"
" Listen, I need you to distract this monster. So I can create a circle to banish and destroy him. Got that?" she looked at me with determination. I nodded my head. Finally, I get to destroy something. " Go!"
" Your mine, Netherling!!" I created a fist of stone and punched the creature right in the head. It screeched and scratched my chest. " Argh, wait how can-" A black liquid dripped from my chest.
Like I said I'm the real deal...You see my Master created us to specifically kill the ninja, but finding their weaknesses...your's is water.... He smirked.
" Oh, no!" I gasped. The blood that covered my hands began to take a toll. But, I had to protect Riku. Until she has completed the circle. I turned towards the creature and kept on attacking him.
She continued to draw the markings onto the ground creating a Spirit Circle. Basically the same concept of the stone, but more. " Cole, just hang on!!' she yelled to reassure me. The tree branch cracked and was about to fall on her There wasn't enough time for her to move out of the way. Out of self conscience I leaped towards her and pushed her out of the way. All I felt was the weight of the branch on my back, and then darkness.

Riku's POV
I squint open my eyes to see Cole face down on the floor. " Cole!!" I yelled running towards him. He woke up and looked at me. His stare telling me to stay put. The Netherling didn't notice this signal and began to walk towards me.
Now you're mine!!! He hissed but the moment he lunged Cole possessed his body.
" No! You're mine!!!" he yelled trying to take control of the beast who was trying to get rid of him. The creature wouldn't give in and by the looks of it. If they didn't split both of them wouldn't be alive.
" Cole get out of him, you're going to die inside with it!!" I yelled. I could see Cole's eyes through the beast's. He was telling me something.
" Riku, I'm willing to give my life to protect yours." he smiled his body shaking with pain and the blood spilling on the floor. " Thank you!" he yelled in pain. The creature howled in agony as he continued to fight the possession. I shook my head as the tears flowed out.
" No, I won't let you!!!' I yelled and flash of light glowed from my eyes and chest. The light began to surround the Netherling. Pulling the two apart. It was obvious that we couldn't defeat him. Not now at this rate. There was only one thing to do, but Cole won't like it. The circle got destroyed by the branch, but with the power inside me I can do one last thing.
" Riku? What are you doing?!" Cole wheezed trying to stay afoot. I smiled slightly at him as I opened a portal behind him.
" I'm sending you back home. I heard their cry and they need you right now. Don't worry about me. I'll always be a part of you, and you will never be alone." I smiled.
" No!! No, Don't do this!!! There has to be another way!!!" he cried. I shook my head.
" Goodbye, by love. I'm glad I was able to mend you, and you mended me. Thank you!" The portal began to close around him. Cole was fighting to get out, but at that moment the creature surrounded me in darkness. I was gone and so was he, but now that he's safe. I have another mission, one last thing I need to take care of. I have to find the others.
" Goodbye, Cole." I whispered before I fell into my death like sleep.
