Chapter 20- Being Numb
Harry's POV.
The party was boring to say at most. Matt wouldn't come talk to me, I knew exactly why though. The two girls weren't here yet. The adults were already here, and catching up with each other. We hadn't seen each other in a month, and all I did was standing around. Then something happened that I did not suspect, Matt came over.
"No girl this time?" He asked bitterly. I shook my head, knowing the exact reason for his bitterness. Nelly and Matt had gotten close during the shouting, even if their characters hated each other, they were like father and daughter.
"Nope." I shook my head. "Not in front of her." The last part I whispered as I looked at my shoes. It was my fault. It was my fault to be such a wuss and not stand up to management. I could have just said no, but of course, I didn't because I was too much of a wuss. Or was I just to scared about my own reasons? I mean, I liked some girls... But I never had this feeling, this feeling where all I wanted to do was make her smile, to make her laugh, to let her be happy.
"Good." Matt muttered. "Maybe she'll cheer up a little."
"What?" I asked, well more snapped. All I could think of was an incident. The incident. The only thing that weighed me down more then anything in my life. If Nelly had try to go again... I don't know what I would do. I don't know if I could even live anymore, not if she... If she tried to suicide again.. Matt sighed and turned toward me.
"Harry... She's... She's cutting." He stated, looking miserable. I froze right then and there. Cutting? No, this was not happening. This cannot happen. Not deja vu again.
"No, she promised me she wouldn't!" I cried out. He looked at me, confused at my reaction. I griped my hair and paced for a second. Sighing I turned toward him, saying this.
"She has cut before. I didn't know, not until she showed. It starts with cutting then it goes with 'sickness' where she won't come to anything. Then it's the final straw."
"So you're saying? This might be all a cause of deja vu?"
"No, this is all my fault. I had agreed with management to do this because I was too much of a wuss to stand up for myself. I should have, and now I have driven her down this path again."
"We gotta stop it then."
"Yeah, I have to fix it. She won't accept my apology, but... I don't know." We were stuck, getting more worried by the second. Then he started to laugh. I looked at him and he smiled sadly at me.
"I told her that I would kill you. I literally said 'I'm going to kill him. I swear it. He's going to wish that never happened.' "He told me. I smiled sadly and nodded.
"And i would expect nothing less." I told him.
"Good. Well, I'm going to go find Amanda, or she'll go crazy about not seeing me here." We laughed and he went off to find the stylist. Still standing, I looked over to the gate. My eyes caught a glimpse of blonde and red hair. 'you knew that this was going to happen to you, Harry, face it' I thought to myself. Nelly and Serena came into view, but I only had eyes for one of them.
Nelly looked amazing as she wore a knee-length dress. It's green skirt spread out around her, with it's tight blue top and the white fedora. Her hair was curled and she was wearing a piano necklace. Nelly's ice-blue pools look at me and she winked, smirking. I raised an eyebrow and she stopped for a second. I turned away and disappeared into the crowd. Unluckily (for me, lucky for her) I didn't see her once until I ran into her. We were both on the dance floor when we bumped into each other.
