I walked down the street towards my house. Why couldn't the stupid bus driver drop me off at my house like all the other kids, not at the end of my street? And even better, it was pouring rain and my mom was no where to be found.

By the time my house was in view my hair was soaked and my sweatshirt and jeans clung to my body. I began to pick up speed, wanting nothing more than to change my clothes when something caught my eye. The house next door to mine, which had been unoccupied for years, had a moving truck in the driveway.

I ran up to my house searching for my mom, wanting to yell at her for not picking me up from the bus stop.

I entered the main entry way and threw my drenched backpack on the floor.

"MOTHER!" I screamed, ready to give it to her.

"In the kitchen, Mackenzie."

I walked down the hallway and began my rant.

"Is it beyond your capability to pick me up from the bus stop while it's raining? I mean, sunshine is one thing, but ra-" I stopped my sentence short, noticing my mom had company.

"Mackenzie, these are our new neighbors." My mom said shooting me a 'you better watch it' facial expression.

"Oh, um, hi, I'm Mackenzie." I said, my cheeks turning pink.

"I'm Christine, it's a pleasure to meet you. Boys, introduce yourselves." She said, nudging the three boys next to her.

"I'm Ashton." Said the littlest one with a smile.

"I'm Brandon, it's nice to meet you."

The oldest one looked at me next.

"And I'm Hunter."
