Cory and I walked a little more before returning home. We didn't really say much, I guess we were both lost in our own thoughts. He would look over at me every now and then just to smile at me.
"Wanna come in for a while?" I asked.
Dad was pulling in just as we got to the front steps.
"Yeah, I mean if it's alright." He replied.
Dad walked over to us, looked at us and walked away. Sometimes I wondered about him, he was so weird. Cory looked over at me confused then both of us laughed.
"You wanna go to dinner with me tomorrow?" Cory asked before we walked into the house.
"Yeah, sure." I smiled.
"Sea food sound good?"
"Well duh, it's my favorite."
We spent the rest of the evening watching movies in the living room.
I just sat there zoned out thinking about dinner tomorrow. I guess you could say I was a little excited. Cory sat beside me, smiling.
"Bye baby. I'll see you tomorrow." I heard Cory whisper to me as he laid me down somewhere.
I slowly opened my eyes as he kissed my temple.
"Go back to sleep."
"Stay for a minute." I whispered.
Cory crawled beside me and wrapped his arm around my waist.
"Baby, you're amazing." I heard him say before I fell into a deep sleep.
When I woke up the next morning, I was alone in bed. When I rolled over I seen a piece of paper though.
Delaney,
I hated leaving you this morning but I had to go before your dad found out I fell asleep in your bed. I can't wait to see you tonight.
Cory
He stayed with me? Just the thought of him staying with me made me smile. The day went by slowly, I spent the entire day waiting for the time to get ready for the night.
Around 6 I began getting ready for dinner. I decided to wear a pair of blue skinny jeans, a black v-neck shirt and a black pair of ankle boots. I decided to curl my hair for the night and after that I done my makeup.
I sat in the living room waiting for Cory to come. My dad was in the kitchen doing something. There was a knock at the door and I heard my dad come through the kitchen. Before I could get to the door my dad had ruined my night.
"You're the asshole that had sex in my damn house with my damn daughter!" My dad yelled.
"What? No. No. I..I didn't."
"You did, damnit. Don't lie to me. It happened a few months ago!"
"Dad, please. Stop." I begged.
"No, what happens if he got you pregnant?" He yelled.
"It wasn't him Dad!" I yelled.
I grabbed Cory's arm and pulled him away. We both got in the vehicle.
"What's he talking about?" Cory asked as he drove.
"I don't know."
"Don't pull that shit with me. Tell me, I just got yelled at for something I didn't even do and I'd really like to know." He said, clearly mad.
"Fine! Damon and I had sex a few months ago, when you were away." I yelled.
Cory pulled over on the side of the road and got out. He sat up on the hood of the car and just looked to the side. I stayed in the car for a few minutes until I gained enough courage to face him.
I walked in front of where he was sitting and he would not look at me. He just looked to the side.
"Why would you not tell me?"
I stayed quiet.
"Why? Why him?" He asked.
I was beginning to cry.
"Damnit, why? Why baby?"
"Stop calling me that. I'm not your baby."
Cory slid down the hood of the car and wrapped his arms around me. He held me for a minute before speaking.
"You are my baby. Always will be."
It was pouring down rain and Cory was begging me to get in the car. I was too busy feeling like a bitch to care about the rain though. There were tears pouring down my face.
"Please get in the car Delaney. You're going to get sick."
I ignored him. I guess I knew better because he came over and picked me up. He sat me in the back seat and got in beside me.
He wrapped his arms around me and just held me as I cried.
"Can I ask you one thing?" He asked after I had stopped crying.
"Yeah."
"Why him?"
"I don't know. It happened the second time he came over for a science project." I paused and looked up at him. "I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"Not telling you and getting you yelled at by my dad."
"You'll just have to make it up to me." He smiled.
"And how am I going to do that?" I laughed.
