"What is it, Mom?" I ask her, still chuckling at Hannah. My mom looks sternly at me, glancing down at my phone.

"Hang up the phone, right now," she orders.

I look down at Hannah sympathetically, waving goodbye to her before pressing end call.

"What's up, Mom? Anything bad happen?" I ask her. My mom lets out a huge breath before looking at me sympathetically.

"Your father... He called me today. He told me that he found us and he would like to see you," she sighs.

I close my eyes and let out a deep breath. My dad was not a nice guy. Every time I went to school, my mom came home with bruises. Even a seven-year-old doesn't have to be a genius to figure that one out.

Initially, that's why we had moved; my mom was tired of dealing with that. She knew that it was only a matter of time where she and I were both to be in the same boat. Needless to say, I've never had a Dad, only a man who assisted in my creation.

"What are we going to do? I don't want to see him," I huff, rolling my eyes. "For all I care, he can rot in his grave like the rotten man that he is."

"Cara, he is still your father and is allowed to see you whenever he pleases," my mom reminds me, causing me to throw my phone on my bed. Suddenly, my phone starts buzzing. Grayson. I'm forced to hit the decline call button; besides, he really shouldn't talk to me when I'm angry.

"Mom, please don't make do this," I sigh.

"I have to. I couldn't get the paperwork to have full custody over you. He'll sue if I don't do something," my mom points out causing me to groan. "He wants you to meet him in the park Friday afternoon, but I don't want you going by yourself. I want you to bring that Dolan boy."

"His name's Grayson," I tell her. I wish she could remember that.

"Whatever," she snaps, instantly regretting it. "I just... I don't trust him with you. I'm scared he'll do something to you, so even though I don't know Grayson all that well, you seem too. He's saved you once, so he could do it again."

"I don't want Grayson to meet him. He might hate me afterward," I whine. "Grayson means a lot to me, and that idiot is going to ruin it."

"It's only one afternoon, Sweetheart," my mom begs. "Please?"

It takes a while of pouting from my mom, but I finally roll over on my bed and agree to her wish.

"This is never happening again," I warn her and she nods graciously. I shake my head as she walks out of the room. Maybe Grayson can help me feel better. I hit the green call button for FaceTime.

"Hey, why didn't you answer my... Are you alright?" Grayson asks.

"I'm fine," I mutter.

"Care, you're crying," Grayson says sympathetically. I look at my camera seeing little specks of tears falling freely down my face.

"Oh, would you look at that, I am," I chuckle, viciously wiping the droplets from my face. "I don't usually cry."

"Cara, what's wrong?" Grayson asks seriously.

"Can you come over?" I ask him, starting to sniffle more and more. "It's probably like eight o'clock or whatever, but..."

"I'll be there in five minutes," Grayson interrupts me, immediately hanging up the call. I roll over in my bed, burying my face into my pillow.

How could this be happening to me? I've been a good person. I go to church on Christmas and Easter. I don't do drugs. I eat all of the food on my plate. I don't deserve this.
