"Well doesn't my beautiful girlfriend look lovely today?" Grayson says I approach him. His smile grows bigger with each step that I take closer to him, and to be honest, I don't deserve that at all.

"Hello to you too," I greet him, giving him a kiss on the cheek. I look at the car behind him. "No Aaron or Ethan today?"

"No, Ethan picked up Aaron earlier. I promise Ethan doesn't hate you," Grayson states.

"Trust me, I think we all know that," I mutter making sure that Grayson doesn't hear. If he only knew how Ethan really felt.

"Anyways, come on. School starts in ten minutes. Don't want to be late on your first day back from break," Grayson pretends to scold and I laugh. As soon as we get to school, I spot Emma.

"Hey, I'm so sorry that we couldn't hang out over break. My friend Hannah came in from Florida, so I thought it best to spend time with her. I hope you're fine with that," I explain to Emma.

"Yeah, it's fine," Emma grins. "My family went to some camping trip to Tennessee anyways, so it's not like I was going to be able to hang out with you anyways."

I look at Emma's hair and realize that she has gone back to blond. That's a surprise.

"I'm liking the hair," I compliment.

"Oh my goodness, you wouldn't even believe the pain I had to go through to get it like this," Emma complains, running a hand through her hair. "It's so damaged right now like you wouldn't believe. I had to put coconut oil in it for about thirty minutes each day to get it manageable. I wish I could have hair as healthy as yours."

I run my fingers through my hair. It's nothing special. It might be smooth, yes, but it's not as healthy as most people think. I have split ends galore.

I go to reply to her, but the bell rings, so we both head off to English, continuing the conversation until we get to the classroom. And then he appears.

"You and I need to talk about it," I demand from him, grabbing his shirt. Emma has already walked inside the classroom, and I told her to just go ahead. This wouldn't take that long.

"No," Ethan sighs, removing my hand from his shirt. "There's nothing to talk about. Seriously, Cara, can we just forget about it?"

"I can't. Not until we discuss it," I plea from him. "I know it sounds dumb and all, but I really think we should talk about it. It might make things better."

"What's it going to make better?" Ethan asks. "Nothing, because even after we talk about it, everything will be the same as it is right now."

"I just want answers," I admit to him. "I've been hurt for two months, and I deserve to know why you did what you did. It's kind of killing me on the inside."

I just want to know why he did it and what it means. Is that so much to ask from a guy? Apparently, it seems too much for Ethan.

Ethan lets out a long sigh before saying something.

"Okay, but we're not doing it here. There are too many people to hear," Ethan comments, cautiously around. "Come on, I know where we can go. It's not too far from the school."

I raise an eyebrow. "Ethan, we can't cut class! My mom will kill me and I like living a lot! In fact, I like living so much, that I refuse to skip school."

"Do you want to talk or not?" Ethan asks. "Besides, I do it all the time. It's not like you'll get caught or anything. The school's security sucks."

I look around the quickly emptying hallway. I know this isn't a good idea. We'll probably get caught, and if we do, I don't even know how I'll be able to explain it to my mom, much less Grayson. I know I just said that I won't skip school because it's bad. I know that I will be grounded for life because I'm going to get caught. But what's life without taking risks?
