There's a huge difference between having a father figure at your house and having a cop that's dating your mom at your house. For starters, father figures just get mad and angry about situations, while cops have the power to actually do something.

"How long has this been happening, Cara?" Dave asks, a pen and notebook in hand. My mom stands behind him with her hands on her hips. I've already gotten the why didn't you tell me speech three times since I've gotten home.

"This is the third time it's happened," I answer. "Is this a serious issue or something?"

"I'm afraid so. This is a case of stalking, and I'm quite sure your mom won't be too happy if we let this continue. Hey, even I won't be too happy if we let this continue," Dave replies. "Do you have any idea who it could be?"

"Well, I don't know..." I answer.

"Everyone in the town doesn't like her right now," Ethan comments. He's leaning against the wall right now, his face locked in a unpleased expression. "It could be anyone to be completely honest with you."

"Why does nobody like her?" my mom asks with a frown on her face.

I smile to myself. My mom's being a motherly figure and it makes me really happy that she cares.

"She's the girl who hangs out with the Dolan twins. Not a single person in the town likes us Dolan twins," Ethan explains. "Therefore, by her hanging out with us, she is automatically disliked."

My mom frowns, crossing her arms.

"Is that why you hated this town so much?" my mom asks.

"It doesn't really matter now," I shrug. "It's not like you can change everyone's opinions about the Dolans anyway. That's exactly why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover."

Dave coughs from the side. Wow, I almost forgot he was there for a second. My bad, Dave.

"Anyways, I'm going to have the squad investigate. In the meantime, I don't think it's a good idea that you go out often, and when you do, you should have someone with you at all times," Dave instructs.

I raise my eyebrows in surprise. "But what if-"

"None of that. We can't risk anything," Dave demands, standing up. "I'm highly suggesting that you stay here."

"He's right," Ethan states, standing up with Dave. "You don't need to go out anyways. And if you do, I'm sure I'll be able to take you wherever you want to go."

"Ethan, why are you..." I go to say.

"Cara, not right now," Ethan states clearly. "I'm going to let Aaron know what happened. It was nice talking to you, Officer Dave. You two, Mrs. McDaniel."

He gets up and makes his way over to me, wrapping his arms around me carelessly.

"Just stay here. It's not going to hurt you for a few days," Ethan whispers. With that, he leaves immediately.

"I thought you were dating Grayson," my mom points out from behind me, confused and crossing her arms across her chest.

Sometimes I forget to fill my mom in on my life and it's times like these that I really regret it.

"Come on, Cara, it's not like it's the end of the world or anything," Aaron comments. He lies across my bed, while I'm sitting in my desk chair. That's just how stubborn Aaron Carpenter is, everyone.

"You try staying in your house all day. There's nothing to do," I complain. "All I can do is sit here and binge watch Grey's Anatomy all day. That's not too bad until you've already done that three times before."
