"Thank you, Officer, for your cooperation. We are very thankful for the time and effort that you have put into Cara's case," my mom thanks the police station once more. All of the officers present are grinning nonchalantly. They probably haven't even done anything to help.

"We are very welcome and hope that Cara will no longer have any more problems," Officer Dave specifically says. "Alright, so now we're going to have to get you to sign some paperwork in the back, Miranda."

"Actually, Dave. May I go talk to Emma?" I ask curiously. It doesn't hurt asking. I just want all of the questions that are spinning through my head answered.

Here I was, thinking that Emma actually wanted to be my friend, but then she threatens me like this and for no reason at all? I deserve answers.

"I don't think that's a good..." Dave goes to say but he's interrupted by Ethan.

"I'll go with her, sir," Ethan tells Dave. "You don't have to worry about her safety. I think I've got that covered."

"Can I come too?" Grayson asks from behind Ethan. "I promise I won't try to fight Ethan this time. I just think I'm curious is all."

Dave looks back and forth between his squad, and the chief gives him a curt nod.

"Let me go put Emma in a talk booth and I'll bring you three back there in a minute. You can come with me, Miranda," Dave allows her, guiding her down a hallway.

I turn to Ethan and Grayson and cross my arms. It's been a really long day today.

"You know, it kind of pissed me off when you two started fighting," I tell them.

"Look, I'm really sorry Cara but..." Ethan goes to say to me, but I hold up a hand to interrupt him.

"No, I think that it's your brother that you should be apologizing to," I tell him. "Actually, both of you should apologize to each other. You should have never let me come between you."

"She's right," Grayson sighs, a hand on the back of his neck. "I don't know why I was so pissed at you. It's not like you could help your feelings or anything."

"No, I shouldn't have kissed her," Ethan says. They look at each other and give the other a hug. "You're still my brother?"

"I'll always be your brother, E. You can't get rid of me that easily," Grayson grins. He slowly turns to me. "And I'm sorry to you as well, Cara. We both did things wrong in that relationship, and if I was going to be mad at you, I should have also been mad at myself."

"Really?" I ask him. "Because I would really like trying to be friends again, Grayson."

"I'd like that," he smiles to himself. Suddenly, Officer Dave comes back and leads us to the back area of the police station. There, a room with glass windows blocking the prisoners from escaping a table to sit down at awaits us.

"I'm only allowed to let you guys talk for five minutes, so make it quick," Officer Dave tells us. "If you need me, I'll be right outside."

With that, he leaves, and the only people in the room are Grayson, Ethan, Emma, and I. Emma sits on the other side of the glass with her arms crossed. Grayson, Ethan and I go sit at the table opposite of Emma, where she looks like she does not want to be seeing us.

"What do you want?" she huffs. She's still wearing her regular clothes, and I'm guessing that they are just keeping her here until they get in contact with her parents.

"I think you know the answer to that," Ethan scoffs, and I pat his hand gently underneath the table.

"Why'd you do this?" I ask her. "Was it really necessary?"
