Finding Love Again

On The Mend

 Three weeks, It had been three weeks since I came home, three weeks since Derek told me that it was me that he was going to propose to all those years ago, three weeks since I yelled at him and three weeks since I last seen him.  I was sitting on the seat of my bay window just looking out at the world moping. It was a beautiful day the sky was blue and the sun was shining, but all I wanted to do was sit here. My brother and dad have been trying to get me to leave my room for the last three weeks, but I wasn't having it. They will probably try again today no doubt. Oh listen it sounds like a heard of elephants coming up the stairs right now. Two knocks and my door swings open "yes?" I ask sarcastically, "we are going to the lake why don't you come?" Stiles asked. I turned to look at him and shook my head no. "Please, you haven't left this room in three weeks, you need to get out and get some fresh air and see people." Stiles pleased with me, but I just sat there not bothering to respond this time, "Okay I didn't want to have to do this , but you leave me no choice, Scott!!!" 

When my brother said Scott's name I turned to look at the door and Scott came through the door blazing red eyes. "Get up, your coming with us and you will have fun" he said in his alpha voice not hesitating I jumped from my seat and got ready to go to the lake. We were in the car and halfway there when the effects of the alpha wore off. "Hey Stiles no far, that was dirty to get Scott to use his alpha powers on me," I said and crossed my arms pouting, "Oh get over it your out and we are going to have fun," He said from the drivers seat of his beat up old jeep. "Just wait until we get where we are going I'll get you back," I said in a hushed tone Stiles couldn't hear me, but Scott did and he started laughing. "Hey what's so funny?" My brother asked Scott just shook his head and said nothing before turning up the radio. "Just so you know, I didn't want to use my power on you. You just had us worried." Scott said to me low enough only I could hear. "Yeah, I know but don't tell Stile this, but I'm glad you did" I responded back in a low tone. He turned and smiled at me and then looked back out his window. We rode the rest of the way in silence listening to music.

           It was lunchtime by the time we reached the lake. Stiles pulled up to a cleared grass area close to the water that had a picnic table.  We got out and went to the back of the jeep to get the cooler, towel's and other things. "So little brother who all is coming?" I asked, "Let's see, ah Kira, Lydia, Malia, Liam, Hayden, Mason and Corey." He said as he sat the cooler on the table. "You didn't..." I didn't get to finish what I was saying because my brother cut me off "No I didn't invite Derek" He said as two other cars pulled up and everyone got out. "Thank you Stiles" I said to my brother. "I just wish you would forgive him already though, because him moping and then your moping, You're both just killing me" Stiles said just as Malia came up next to me and Stiles, "Forgive who?" she asked. "Derek" I responded, "what no he needs to beg for forgiveness not have it handed to him" She said. I smiles at her, "thank you, oh by the way sorry about my reaction when we first met" I said to her, "No, no you have nothing to be sorry for I totally understand, your brother should have told you a long time ago, I would have been the same with my sister if she was still here." She said and we hugged and picked up our towel's and headed towards the water. I stopped and looked back at my brother "oh by the way little brother you might want to fire up the grill and get those burger's started I'm mighty hungry." I said with a cheeky grin.

 "What? Why am I cooking the food?" he asked, "because of how you got me here" I said to him and squinted my eyes at him. "What did he do?" Malia asked I looked at her and said, "Oh he didn't tell you? Well my little brother here had Scott use his alpha power on me to get me out of the house"  Oh she got mad her eyes flashed blue and turned to my brother, "you did what?" she asked him. My brothers voice went up two octaves, "Um,uh" was all he got out. "well you can just cancel our date later." She said and smiled at my brother then turned to me and hooked her arm with mine and we walked down towards the water with Lydia, Hayden and Kira in tow. Oh another girl who can make my brother shut up and quiver like I can this will be fun. I thought to myself. We had been laying on our towels sunbathing for about thirty minutes. My brother doing what he was told was cooking the hamburger with Scott and Liam by him. Mason and Corey were playing in the water and here was thinking about what Stiles said about forgiving Derek. 

 "Yo Belle, what are you thinking about so hard?" Malia's voice brought me out of my thoughts. "Oh, huh What?" I asked, the girls laughed. "Your brother has been trying to tell you for five minutes now that lunch will be ready in fifteen to twenty minutes," Malia said grinning at me, "Oh, ok great I'm starved," I said. "What were you thinking about so hard?" Malia asked me again, "oh i was thinking about what Stiles said earlier about forgiving Derek" I said. "No way girl you need to hold your ground and have him ask for forgiveness, He waited all this time for one and for two he didn't go after you when you left, if he was really in love with you he would have went after you no matter where you went." She said. "yeah, your right" I said with a sigh. "It just hurts ya know, more than my divorce" I said, "Wait?  that hurt more than your cheating husband and divorcing him?" Lydia asked, "Yes it does believe it or not" I said , "But why is that?" Kira asked, Oh boy, well I better tell the girls since they are the only ones here who don't know well other than Mason and Corey, but they can either listen in now or find out from my brother. 

"Well Derek and I first met in preschool, then our mom's became good friends and we played together on the days they hung out. We really didn't care to spend that much time together, but it was as it was, then Cora and Stiles came along so we ended up doing more stuff together and became best friends. I fell in love with him the year my mother died, he was very attentive and did anything and everything for me and I saw him differently I no longer saw him as just my best friend, two years later he lost his family in a house fire, he lost everyone, but his older sister Laura and his younger sister Cora. I have done everything for Derek as he did for me, but nothing changed he only saw me as his best friend, which was fine I'd rather have him as a friend than not have him at all, then graduation came and I overheard the conversation with Peter and you all know already, so I left, then I come home to find out he had feelings for me the whole time but never did anything about it." I just finished when I heard Stiles yell that food was ready. We all went to the picnic tables and ate talking here and there catching up mostly. I missed a lot in my brothers life that I wish I hadn't, but there was nothing I could do about it now. All I could do was be there now. 

                       We finished eating and packed away the leftover food and put the cooler in my brother's jeep. We waited a bit after eating then we went and jumped in the water. I was actually having fun and feeling better. I knew I needed to talk to Derek but in time. I just climbed on my brother's shoulders and Kira was on Scott's when I heard. "Belle, can we talk?" It was Derek, he was standing on the shore. Jumping down from my brother's shoulders I headed for land. My brother grabbed my shoulder and said, "You know you know you  don't have to if you're not ready." smiling at my brother, "I know, but I'm read and I need answers." I said to him. Nodding his head he took his hand off of me and I got out of the water. Time for answers.
