I dried off a bit and wrapped my towel around my waist and put on my flip-flops. "Come on we will walk and talk," I said. Nodding his head he followed. When we got a good bit away from the supernatural hearing Derek started talking, "look, Belle, I'm sorry I know nothing I can say will be good enough reason for my actions, just know that I am truly sorry." I walked a bit then took a seat under a tree. "being sorry is one thing Derek, I just don't understand why you didn't tell me sooner or come after me for that matter." I said as teardrops started to fall.

"I wanted to, but your dad and brother told me to stay away, now don't be mad at them they only did it to protect you, my life went downhill from there I was getting into trouble all the time and my sister couldn't take any more of it so she packed us up and we moved away. I came back a few years ago when Peter killed Laura. I stayed around for Scott to help him along when he was bitten, then I evolved and was able to change into a full wolf. So I left again to explore my new abilities" Derek had just laid everything out for me when he didn't have to, but I understood why.

"So what brought you back this time?" I asked, he wiped a stray tear from my cheek and said, "You" I whipped around to look at him, his heart was racing, but it never skipped a beat. "Why me?" I asked never taking my eyes from his. "Because I needed to talk to you, apologize for when we were younger and hope we can go back to the way things were, as best friends," he said and his eyes drifted from mine to the ground. I sat there for a minute in thought, by the sound of his heart right now matching mine he feels the same way about me as I do him.

"Derek you will always be my best friend" when I finished my sentence his head flew up and his eyes locked with mine. I smiled at him and stood up eyes never breaking contact and he stood up with me, "Great, I'd rather have you be my best friend then nothing at all" he said with a smile. I nodded and leaned over to hug him. We stood there hugging for some time until I got a wicked idea and pulled back to look at him, "want to play chicken with Stiles and Scoot like we used to?" I asked him.

He smiled and we took off towards the lake where we left everyone I stopped by the water as Derek stripped down to his swim trunks, I looked at my brother and Scott, smiling evilly at them which made their faces fall off. "Who's up for a game of water chicken?" I shouted Malia and Kira shouted "ME", by this time Derek joined me by the water. "Ok girls your partners are your boyfriends and you will go against me and my best friend here, we are the reigning champs five years in a row," I said grinning "Yeah we will see about that," Malia chuckled. Derek and I grinned at the challenge and jumped into the water. Successfully drenching Lydia who was still sunbathing at the water's edge.

"very funny guys" Lydia yelled. I grinned at her and said, "Oh hush if you're feeling like such a seventh wheel why don't you call that deputy of my fathers? I'm pretty sure he has the day off today." I said, she looked at me dumbfounded, "How did you know?" she asked, "Nothing gets passed Sheriff Stilinski and I might have mentioned it to my dad this morning about giving him the day off" I said as I climbed on Derek's shoulders to get ready for the game. Lydia grabbed her phone and typed away.

We played for hours, Derek and I staying the champs, we even went against Jordan and Lydia. That was a close one, but we still beat them. It was getting dark as we packed up the vehicles and headed for home with Stiles jeep leading the way. Not even five minutes from the lake and Stiles jeep makes a loud noise and starts smoking. He gets it to the side of the road before it finally dies. " Stiles, what is wrong with your jeep? I asked as I climbed out of the back seat. "It needs a lot of stuff that I just don't have the money for," he said as he popped open the hood. I grabbed the flashlight flipping it on as I walked around the front of the jeep to take a look. By this time Derek and everyone else had stopped, but he was the only one to come to the jeep.

"oh and duck tape is your solution?" I questioned him as I looked at the engine that was eighty-five percent duck tape. "Hey it worked ok," he said to "well it won't work this time, the engine is gone," I said, Derek nodded in agreement. "I'll give you guys a lift home" Derek said, "That would be nice thank you, I'll call a tow truck to take this heap home and text everyone else to go on home, oh by the way I call shotgun" I told my brother and Scott, they both huffed and I giggled. "Take the stuff from the jeep and put it in the back of Derek's Toyota," I told the boys.

They grumbled incoherently but did as they were told. Twenty minutes later the tow truck showed. I paid the guy to take it to dad's and then climbed into Derek's Toyota. The ride home was quiet, so quiet that I fell asleep with my head on Derek's shoulder. I drifted in and out of consciousness the whole ride home. Only hearing the radio now and then. Sometimes we had pulled up to the house and I was vaguely aware of being unbuckled and carried into the house and up the stairs.

Whoever was carrying me smelt really good and it wasn't my dad because he smelt like old spice, this smelt like springtime air, grass and trees. I was gently laid on the bed and someone took off my shoes and covered me up. I heard a goodnight come from the door, but could sense someone sitting by me. Then I felt lips on my forehead "goodnight my love", which sounded like Derek. My light went off and the door shut and I sat up in bed. Holy crap, he does still love me. I smile, laid back down and fell asleep.
