Riley hid under a leaf as she watched a giant pass her by. Twice the giant had passed her that day, and she was lucky enough to avoid being caught once. She remained under the leaf, which was hidden in the grass. If she tried to run, however, her body rustling through the grass would be enough to attract attention. She watched as dangerous red eyes and black hair scanned the forest floor. Snorting with defeat, the giant left, trudging heavily away, and disappointed that he had lost his breakfast. Riley waited a few minutes before advancing, knowing that just leaving her hiding spot the second she couldn't hear footsteps would possibly lead to capture. She sniffed the air, picking up a scent she hadn't smelled in a long time.

Food! She thought, darting to the source. At this point, she was desperate (and scrawny) enough to dash towards any food. Cooked or raw, her tough (but weak to motion) gut would take any food item. Even raw bacon was no match for the young female. She dashed towards the food, and saw it was fresh bread.

Wait, she thought, glancing around, something feels off. Riley heard a growl, and jumped, wired mesh falling in front of her only escape route.

No! I'm trapped! It was a trap all along! Riley thought. She scrambled around the cage, hearing a satisfyied laugh. She looked up and was the red eyes, which were partly showing through the giant's black hair.

"Well then. Looks like I found my breakfast that got away!" The giant sneered. Riley prayed silently that something, ANYTHING would come and save her from becoming a meal. As the giant lifted up the cage, a click! is heard from behind the giant. There was a younger one, holding a gianormous pistol, aimed straight at the one that had Riley.

"Hands off the cage, Fenrir." The newcomer began, his finger above the trigger. "I had my eyes on her first."

Fenrir chuckled, then put the cage down. He looked at the newcomer, then let out a battle cry and charged at him. Riley covered her ears as a deafening BANG! sounded off in the air. Riley trembled with fear, looking up to see a hole in Fenrir's neck. She felt her blood drain at the sight, and huddled in a corner of the cage. She heard the cage door slide open, and the gigantic gun's safety lock switch on, and was sheathed at his side. Riley was petrified with fear, and the second she felt warm, giant hands curl around her was the second she began to whimper with fear.

"Hey, hey, hey," the giant began in a hushed, gentle, serene tone. "It's okay, it's okay. You're safe now, I'm not gonna hurt you."

The words had a small effect on Riley, as she curled into a ball, weeping and crying with fear and pain. Her ankle was twisted when she was running from the giant Fenrir, which thankfully was when she found a leaf to hide under. The giant began walking, still trying to calm Riley down, he opened his hand, and let one finger trace the girl's spine. He gasped when she nuzzled his finger, fear telling Riley to make use of the comfort. She eventually lulled herself to sleep, exhausted, starved, and dehydrated. Probably those three problems would be solved for her, or the newcomer, but at this point, she didn't care.
