Riley finally woke up, tired and confused. She heard a dog howling in the distance, and shuddered. It nighttime, and she never recalled seeing any dogs ever since the "apocalypse" struck earth. She whimpered with fear, realizing that it might not have been just a dog that was howling.
"Markus?" Riley called, standing up on a pillow she had been placed on. No response.
"S-Saint?" She called, still no response.
The howling grew louder, and Riley whimpered, sliding off the pillow and hiding underneath it. Since the pillowcase was black, Riley didn't need to worry too much about matching the shade of the pillow. The window crashed as a large, dragon-dog creature scrambled onto its feet.
Hellhound Rily thought, watching the creature search.
It was the same size as her, with fiery eyes and stalagmite like spikes on its back. Riley shuffled around in the pillow, and the dog turned towards her. She whimpered, then squeaked with fear as the hellhound appeared on the bed. The hellhound looked at her hiding spot, then trudged over to her. With every step the hound took, Riley began feeling light-headed.
The hellhound snarled and charged towards her. She shrank back, then growled, her nails digging into the mattress. Then hellhound managed to find her and bit down on her leg. She cried in pain, thrashing as the hellhound dragged her out from the other end of the pillow. She thrashed and kicked, and even roared as the beast sank its fangs deeper into her skin, but the hellhound never gave in. She could feel the ground trembling announcing the arrival of a few Giants. She thrashed as the hellhound rejusted its grip on Riley, gold dripping from its mouth and the bite mark on her leg. She stared at the wound, shocked. The hound darted away, avoiding the giants' hands as they tried to grab the hell beast. It ran towards the edge of the bed and leapt towards the windowsill, then leapt onto the dirt outside, dashing away with Riley in its jaws.
***POV SWAP***
"So, BloodLust wants your human, Riley, and you dead?" Parker asked.
"Yep, she made a mistake coming back to her home." Markus said. But if she didn't, I wouldn't have been able to help her. He added to himself.
A crash was heard and Markus stood up, briskly walking towards the source. Saint grabbed his shoulder, and shook his head. "It's probably Riley trying to recover. She probably knocked something over." Saint said. "You know, I'm starting to think you and Riley are a thing, Brachiosaur."
"What? No, we're friends, and, she seems like she could use someone to talk to. Some humans spend their lives in isolation, so they either obtain a pet, try to talk to other people, or live with friends. She needs someone to talk to, I can tell, she was talking to the air the first night she stayed with me." Markus explained.
"Wow, you take almost everything literal? Look, she likes to be around you, and, she's probably fond of you. I've seen the way she acts around you, and it's kinda like a girl around a boy!" Saint said.
Markus was about to reply when he heard a screech coming from his room. All three Giants went to investigate the source, and saw Riley being dragged out from under a pillow by a demon dog.
"Riley!" Markus lunged at the dog as it shifted its grip on the human, then ran off. All three Giants tried to stop it but the hound was too fast. It ran towards the windowsill, and Markus pulled out his gun.
"Don't! If you try to shoot it, you'll shoot Riley as well!" Parker said, snatching the gun out of Markus's hands.
The hound leapt out of sight, out of the house, and darted through the woods. Markus ran towards the window, and looked for the hound. It ran off with Riley towards the forest. Markus knew exactly where it was heading.
"BloodLust." He snarled, retrieving his pistol from Parker.
"No, Arcane spawned the hound in. BloodLust agreed on a dragon hellhound hybrid."
Markus turned around to face the voice and saw Akatosh sitting on a book, his gaze was truly sympathetic.
"She is being taken to BloodLust. I'm not sure what he wants with her, but it must be bad." Akatosh said. "We must hurry, if he gets his hands on her, there'll be no telling what can happen."
"We're gonna need more artillery." Markus said, looking at his pistol.
"Perhaps your brothers could be of assistance" Akatosh said.
"Yeah, I think I've got an idea." Saint said.
***Elsewhere***
BloodLust watched as the hellhound came scampering back, a girl in its jaws. He smirked, then lowered the cage for the hound to put the girl in.
"Perfect. Now, why not try her out?" He said, lifting the cage. The girl looked at him, and backed away. She shuddered at the sheer size of him. She knew she was waist high in trouble, and was staring straight at Death himself.
