Aiden's POV :)))
Aiden's never really been one for plots. He's never really liked the idea of putting his life on the line to help out the stupid Extras eradicate the Infinites. But, sometimes you get bored, and you have nothing else to do but die. And, it's not like he has anything to live for anymore, anyway, with his entire family being dead and the Extras never really trusting him thanks to him being part Infinite.
So, why not go out with a bang? Why not show the Extras he was worth trusting, and worth a shrine, and power? Why not show them that they've been wrong about him ever since he went to see his father that day?
He looked at his wrist, at the slight bump on it. He had had to be careful when letting himself get captured not to let the guards touch it every much. It had a safety feature, where you had to hit it 20 times in order for it to go off, but he wasn't sure how many times he'd actually gotten it hit. At least 13.
He took a deep breath. If he hit this button at least 7 more times, he'd die. And, it wouldn't be a quick death, either. Gas would leak from his pores, tearing away at not only him, but everything. Very, very slowly.
But, maybe it won't kill me, he thinks, thinking about his Extra half. Maybe I have just enough Extra in me to keep me alive.
He obviously wouldn't know. He's the first anyone's ever heard of being half Infinite and half Extra.
Taking a breath, he pushes the button.
One, he thinks. It seemed to be relatively easy to press, considering he could die. He pressed it again. Two.
Again and again he pressed it, until he had finally pressed it 6 times. Then, he hesitated.
I could die, he thought. I could die, and everyone else here would die with me. All the sick, all the young. The moms and dad's and brother's and sisters.
He set his jaw. And I'm okay with that.
He pressed the button one last time, and waited. For a second, nothing happened.
Then it felt like someone was ripping his veins from his skin.
