~Harry's POV~

I walked up the long cobbled path, damp from rain. I soon reached the door to the abandoned looking house, hitting the doorknocker three times.

The large wooden door creaked open revealing a crazy-looking man. His almost ever-permanent scowl brightened to a smile when he saw me.

"Ah! Harry! Come in! Come in!" He cheerfully welcomed me.

I nodded smiling at the scrawny man in his long, white lab coat "Hello, Edgar."

He stepped aside giving me room to enter the undecorated, worn out house. "Time to decorate, eh?" I joked, fiddling with the ripped wallpaper.

"Don't avoid the point Harry. Let's get down to business, shall we?" Edgar spoke, now serious. I turn to look at him before signalling for him to continue "You know, I have no way of escaping them, I can't help but wonder what will happen to Alice-!"

"Your daughter?" I butt in.

"Hm, yes. As you know I promised your father to protect you and have done the best I can, so please return the favour..."

"I can't. What about the others?"

"Harry it wont be any different! You follow her around anyway! You don't have to show yourself, please Harry! What if they find her?"

The thought of someone hurting Alice sickened me, she's so clueless to the danger around her, the amount of times I've saved her life is... Is countless and as far as she's concerned, I don't even exist.

"If I never have to reveal myself..." I replied causing Edgar's smile to return. He said his thanks before seeing me out the house.

I inhaled the fresh air, picking up her scent instantly.

~Alice's POV~

I walked through the city taking my usual route to my fathers home, I reached the out-skirts of the woods, which I know like the back of my hand, but its dark and raining, I hesistated first before stepping into the flock of trees. As I walked further in, I took in the sound of leaves crunching beneath my feet. The further I walked the more I felt like someone was following me. Just as I saw the light in the window of the house I heard a twig snap and rustling in the bushes. I quickly turned to see if anyone was behind me but all I saw was the dark woods where I just was. I quickly ran through the other trees, determined to get back home just in case whatever it is following me, attacks...

I tried to calm myself down by chanting 'Its just a deer'

Of course its just a deer. Deers are in forests, right?

I ran up the path of my home and straight through the door.

"Dad?" I call

"Up here, Alice!" He shouts from the attic.

I dropped my things on the floor; kicking off my converse before racing up the spiral staircase and onto the second floor. I walked down the hall before reaching the attic, I pulled down the little door causing a ladder to unfold, I climbed up seeing my dad pouring a green liquid into a bubbly blue substance with a crazed look in his eyes.

"Hey," I spoke taking a seat on his spinning arm chair, he shushed me as he focused on whatever he was attempting.

"Where have you been?" He asks once he finishes.

"I was volunteering at the hospital, you know? Like everyday."

"That's great."

"Mhm, was someone here earlier?"

"No, why would you think that?" He begins writing something

"Tyre tracks in the field," I shrug.

He hummed in response. I saw that he was writing a letter to NASA, my head fell into my hands. I know I am 18 but my dads always been here and he's soon leaving to go work with NASA, it's his dream and I am happy for him but he's all I have.

He tells me that I wont be alone, but I obviously will.

I sat on the step outside our front door as my dad put the last of his things in his car. He said he would come back for the stuff he left in his room after he settled in. He closes the boot of the car before walking over to where I was sat. I stood up and straight away I was pulled into a tight hug.

"I'll miss you, Alice."

"I'll miss you, too." I replied as I pulled away from the hug. I watched as he climbed into the car and waved goodbye once more before the car pulled out of our driveway.

So this is it... I am alone.
