Mist village
Intro:
The Mist village is a realm away from ours. It is sandwiched between our world and a black side. The black side is full of hate and ill feelings. When the black side manifests enough evil, it sends a creature to attack Earth. These creatures first have to pass through the Mist village. If they make it through without being killed, they will emerge into our world and cause death through various means. A creature passing through could cause a natural disaster that kills people, or force a person/people to murder, kill, fighting, etc. The more residents of the mist village they kill, the more power they gather and use if they cross over.
The Mist village has always been there as an invisible guardian for our world. It has warriors who will stop at nothing to kill these creatures and prevent unnecessary death in our world. They are our silent saviors…
Places:
*Look out post – A viewing platform at the top of a giant tree. There are metal loops embedded into the trunk to use as a ladder. This is used to keep an eye out for any attacking creatures. There is a warning bell at the top to sound an alarm if necessary. It is manned by the residents of the Mist village.
*Chō-Han Bakuchi – A gambling den, very popular with the local residents.
*Market – A bustling market area made up of many narrow streets and stalls. If you want a bite to eat, visit one of the many street food vendors. At the end of the market is a large grassy area. At nighttime the market is lit up bright red by the lanterns at every shop.
*Temple – A tradition temple area of the village. The gates are guarded by large praying mantis statues.
*Ryokan – A ryokan that the brothers wake up in and use to stay in after. It is run by a lady called Okami. At the heart of the ryokan is a beautiful zen garden with relaxing properties. They have a stream bath available for the guests to use. The user must cover itself in the gel provided and then submerge itself into the hot flowing stream so the gel washes away taking body dirt with it.
*English School – A school ran by the Translator. It has classrooms for both grownups and children.
*Artists workshop – A building outside of the village accesable by Kago. There is a garden area on the roof with a giant humanoid statue. On the lowest level is the Bunraku theatre. It has daily performance from that seasons show.
People:
*Okami – Okami is the owner of the Ryoken. She has a very happy disposition and is always willing to help the two brothers out.
*Translator – The Translator is the main point of contact for the brothers. At first they were not able to see him. The Translator has shown the boys various parts of the village while answering some of their questions. He runs a school teaching English in the village.
*Mayor – The Mayor runs the mist village. She is a veritable source of information and knowledge. She has contact with Mark and Andrew by using Denreisha.
* Denreisha – A messenger. Denreisha is summoned by the use of a special bell given to Andrew. When the bell is rung, Denreisha will run to meet the caller. It holds a sack attached to a long pole which is carried over its back. Inside is paper and writing sticks used for notes to be passed around. Denreisha cannot been seen.
*Fuhyō – There are many Fuhyō in the village. Fuhyō are residents without a defined job.
*Kagokami – The Kagokami are Kago bearers. Four of them carry the Kago to whatever destination is required.
*Samurai – One of the warriors of the village. The Samurai is well built and strong. It wears a full body armour and face mask. The Samurai holds many weapons and healing items in its armour.
*Ninja – One of the warriors of the village. The ninja is quick and dexterous. It wears black robes that cling to its body and face. The Ninja uses only a few weapons and has a hidden pouch for small gas capsules and medicine.
Mist village facts:
*Mist Origin – The mist is created by the spirits of the dead that have been killed by a creature attack. A spirit will become part of the mist but will eventually dissipate. There have been more and more creature attacks getting through to the real world recently making the mist thick back in the village.
*Haze people – The village is made up of two types of people. The first group are like normal people in appearance. The other group are made up of people who when the brothers look at, appear blurry and cannot be seen properly. Their body shape can be made out, but the facial features are blurred. They are genderless and when they speak, they have both a dual male and female voice. Sometimes, a haze person will become visible and normal. The brothers are told that the reason they cannot see them properly is because they have not met them yet.
*Village expansion – When the brothers first arrive, the village is smallish and the boundaries are visible. Each day that they are there, the village seems to have expanded. A few days down the line and the village is not as small as it once was. The brothers have been told that the village gets bigger because they have seen it, a concept similar to that of the haze people.
Creatures:
*Cloud Dragon – A mysterious creature. It is a cloud that has the rough shape of a dragon and a defined eye. Mark first saw the dragon on the plane to Japan while looking out the window. Mark regularly sees the eye in his sleep and Andrew saw the dragon for the first time in the Mist village. Not much more is known about this creature.
*Spinydile ('retro crura' genus) – A huge monster, the size of an elephant. It has a long mouth like a crocodile. Its mottled skin is covered in sharp spiky hair. There is a bony protrusion at the end of its tail which it uses as a weapon. It is noticeable from its backwards facing knees which give it an unnatural swagger when it walks. At the end of its legs are razor sharp claws.
The Spinydile arrived on the large grassy area by the market in a black vacuum ball. It took a few attempts before it got big enough to appear in the Mist village.
*Blood Sack ('oculus acus' genus) – Five grey creatures, no more than a foot in height. Each one independent from the other but all with the same goal of breaking through into the real world. Their body has smooth grey skin and is a like a Pac-Man ghost which has been stretched. There are no arms or facial features, only eight or ten nodules that it uses as feet and a load of eyes that cover the top of its domed head. When it is threatened, it launches hundreds of spikes from all over its body. These needles reach about a meter from the creature’s body to their tip. When moving, they can go very fast. They have no inner organs and are essentially moving sacks of blood.
The smoke rising from a load of incense sticks gained thickness and eventually became a solid cloud. It then shattered breaking into five smaller pieces. These hardened off into cocoons before the outer shell shattered and the creatures came out.
