Marcus watched as each student took control of their Golem and started the test. You would proceed down the course dodging traps and shooting targets. In the end the highest score you could get was twenty-five. Usually the lowest score was twenty in every class, no one ever went under. Well until Marcus came along. He tried everything, but could never reach twenty. Instead he remained a score of ten.
He had already taken his test and failed, so Marcus watched the others in his class. You would pilot a school Golem unless you had your own, witch most people didn't. The Golem you would receive in the Academy and in the field were the Series 5 models. With them came the Cannon Riffle. A gun that worked as it's name suggests, like a cannon. You would have twenty-five rounds no reason to reload on the course.
Most people painted their Golems and nicknamed them, but Marcus hadn't. He didn't care for piloting, he hated it. Sadly in Marcus's military family there was no room for failure, so he had no choice but to get better.
"Lowest score again." Angel said joining him in the watching room. "Just bad luck I think."
"More like bad skills." Marcus laughed. "I'm smart and I'm a great strategist but I stink at piloting."
Marcus heard one of the rooms doors open and a group of people piled in. From the voices he could tell it was Brian Saber and his gang. Brian was a bully with long blonde hair and huge muscles. He is also son of General Saber. Brian once tried to recruit Marcus into his little gang, but Marcus said no. Now they were enemies.
"Did you see me in my 'Blood Saber'?" Brian asked his little gang with he's greedy blue eyes scanning the room. "I got the highest score." His cold eyes landed on Angel and Marcus and he smiled. "Well if it isn't freaks one and two."
"Go stuff yourself in an air lock." Angel said.
A bunch of Brian's gang snickered at Angel's comment because they knew their boss would make Angel regret in. Brian ignored Angel and looked at Marcus.
"Fail again I see," Brian laughed. "If you finally agree to join me I'm sure my father can pull some strings and get you to Lieutenant."
"Unlike you, Marcus doesn't need help getting up the food change." Angel said. "So piss off."
"Listen here you gender less freak," Brian said pulling his fist back ready to punch. "I'll make you regret talking back to me."
As Brian's fist came flying at Angel there was little time to act. Angel placed it's hand up to stop the punch. Instead Brian's fist smashed into something that wasn't Angel's body. Everyone watched as Brian pulled back in pain sense his hand had hit not Angel, but Marcus's hand. It was rare for Marcus to go as far as to get physical especially with his left hand. That hand after all was a robotic replacement. A few years back Marcus was in an accident that claimed his real hand.
"If you didn't hide behind that hand I would flatten you." Brian huffed.
"I could kick your ass even without it." Marcus said with a hint of enjoyment in his voice. "Want to test my claim."
"Why you little-"
"What the hell is going on?!" A women yelled.
Everyone turned to see Mrs. Gear the Golem Training teacher, and mechanic of the school. She had dark olive skin and hazel brown eyes. Her short brown hair hung by her neck, and she wore an engineer's uniform with oil stains. Ms. Gear was only four years older then Marcus.
"Starting trouble again Brian?" Ms. Gear asked.
"No Ms. Gear," Brian lied. "It was Marcus."
"Really?" Ms. Gear asked. "Maybe I should look on the security system to understand more. Don't forget it lets me not only see what was going but hear what was going on to. I wounder what I'm going to hear. Get out before I decide to do so."
Brian, even though he didn't want to, left the room. Marcus sighed happily, sense he didn't like to fight.
"Marcus, meet me in my office." Ms. Gear said. "Angel please stay here, this is privet."
"Okay." Angel said.
Marcus followed Ms. Gear to her office. It was covered in photos and awards. She sat at her desk and Marcus sat in the seat in front of her. Ms. Gear then through a folder on the desk.
"That's your record," Ms. Gear said. "And with how your scores in my class are looking you wont makeLieutenant. So if you want I can sign you onto a Warship. They're always looking for strategists and leaders."
"My father wouldn't like that." Marcus said. "He wanted me to be a Golem pilot."
"Your life, your call." Ms. Gear said. "If you want to do something then do it. You don't need to give a quick answer just think on it."
"I will." Marcus said.
"That's all then." Ms. Gears said. "Stay out of trouble now, and you and Angel can use my privet exit just encase Brian is waiting outside for you two."
"Thank you." Marcus said going to get Angel.

Marcus laid in bed think of what to do. He didn't want to be a pilot, or anything related to the army. Sure he liked to protect people, but they were just fighting of some stupid non-living fuel. Why couldn't it be shared instead of fought over?
He wanted out but his stupid father wouldn't have it. Marcus hoped after the damn war he could follow his real dream, a normal dream. Finding the right girl, getting married, starting a family, and so much more. Sadly he was stuck in he military. Suddenly his holo pad lit up with a message. He looked at it and shot up. What it said made him sick.
'To all students in class 3487 we will be taking a trip to Draco City. There we will study the advancements the city helped create for the confederacy. Meet Principle Juliet if you have any questions. Have a wonderful day!'
Out of all the places they could go why there? Marcus felt like throwing up. He ran to the bathroom and lost his supper in the toilet. Marcus leaned his head on the wall sitting on the floor. The City of Draco, the place he had lived at when he lost the one person he carried most about, his blood grandfather. This was going to be one hell of a trip.
