“Mr. Krug,” A woman’s voice woke me.

“Huh? Oh uhh yes,” I asked looking up at her.

“The doctor would like to talk to you. He’s waiting right outside of the young ladies room,” She informed looking down at me with sympathetic eyes.

“A-Alright Ms. Uhhh…”

“Oh,” She blushed, “Katrina.”

“Thank you Katrina,” I said with a slight smile.

“No problem Mr. Krug,” She replied with a slight smile.

I quickly got up and made my over to Jen’s room, knowing Looch, Marchand and Tuukka were watching as I made my way there.

“Hello Mr. Krug,” The doctor greeted.

“Hello Dr. What’s wrong with Jen,” I asked looking straight into his eyes.

“Well we did an MRI. We have discovered that she has something called Cerebral Edema. This is basically the extreme swelling of the brain, which causes pressure on the skull (From here on the information the doctor gives is totally fake) it can only be fatal is a person is in such pain he or she takes their life. Jennifer happened to not have as bad pain as some get. It also turns out that she has had it for the past 2 or so months,” The doctor informed.

“H-how’d she get it,” I asked leaning against the wall.

“Well it can be caused by things such as roller coasters, hitting your head, shaking of the head at rapid paces, and it usually gets as bad as it did from stress. Some of the symptoms can be mood swings, swelling of other body part, throwing up, and clouded thoughts,” He replied as he wrote something on his clipboard.

“Is Jen going to be fine,” I asked.

“Yes she will be. But she will need to take medications that will help bring the swelling down,” the doctor informed.

“Alright thank you doctor,” I thanked shaking his hand.

“It’s no problem Mr. Krug, you and any other visitors may go visit her. Please make sure not to be too loud, she needs the most sleep she can get right now,” He told me.

“Thank you sir,” I replied and headed down the hall.

When I got back to the waiting room Dougie and Patrice were sitting across from Tuukka, Brad and Milan talking to each other. As I approached them I took in my surroundings I noticed that the sun was already up and shining upon the beautiful city of Boston.

“Hey guys,” I managed to get out in an almost whisper.

“Hey man,” Both Patrice and Dougie greeted with sympathetic looks.

“What did the doctor say,” Tuukka asked looking up hopefully at me.

“She’ll be alright but the reason why she’s been acting so weird the past few months is because her brain has been swelling. It causes pressure on the skull which causes people to have mood swings and shit,” I replied.

“Will she be ok,” Patrice asked looking up at me, worriedness seeping in his voice.

“Yeah, she’ll need to take some medication that will help control everything. We can uhh go visit her. But don’t talk too loud, she needs the most rest she can get… HEY! Did anyone call and tell her work what happened,” I realized.

“No, I figured we could go there on our way to practice in an hour,” Tuukka informed.

“Alright! Who wants to visit her first,” I asked.

All of the guys exchanged looks, “You should Torey. You had to deal with a lot this morning,” Milan told me while standing up and putting a hand on my shoulder.

I looked at the others, mostly Tuukka, they all nodded in agreement with what Milan just said.

“O-Ok, I’ll see you guys in a bit. Then you guys can see her, and we’ll head to practice,” I replied finally being ok with what they had agreed.

I started walking down the hall to Jens room. I stopped before I entered the room and took a breath. I walked in the room and saw her sleeping peacefully, unlike this morning. I slowly made my way over to the right side of the bed and pulled a chair up next to it. As I sat down I grabbed Jens hand, grasping it lightly.

“Jen, I love you so much. I don’t know what I would have done if you would have had something that could have killed you. I was so scared when I found you were the one screaming of pain. I am so glad you are ok,” I leaned down and kissed her hand lightly before standing up and leaving her room.

I sat in my stall looking down at my feet. Today I was going to ask her. Now I can’t, I don’t want to ask in the hospital. I was going to ask her over a nice dinner. I was going to ask her like a gentleman would. Now I can’t ask over dinner, but I can still be a gentlemen. If I do ask today how am I going to make sure all the guys are out? I’m worried about our f…

“Hey man, you ready to go,” Lucic asked approaching me.

“Uhh yeah,” I replied as I stood up and followed the guys out of the locker room.

“What’s up Tuukk you’re really quiet,” Patrice asked as he put his hand on my shoulder.

“I uhh I was going to ask Jen to marry me tonight over dinner,” I confessed looking down as I put my hand in my pocket and pulled out the velvety box.

All the guys looked at me.

“Well you still can ask,” Torey mentioned, now walking backwards so he could look at me.

“I-I just never imagined purposing in a hospital room,” I stated making eye contact with him.

“Let me see the ring,” Torey said reaching his hand out.

I carefully put it in his hand and waited for him to open it.

Once he did his eyes were wide open.

“Holy shit! How much was it,” Brad asked as he glanced at it.

“A lot,” Was all I replied with.

“Man you must really love her,” Dougie observed.

“I sure do!”

“Damn that’s beautiful,” Milan informed as he saw it, “What is that? Sapphire, emerald and diamond?”

“Yeah. Sapphire and emerald are he favorite,” I replied.

“Wait, she has a favorite type of gem stone,” Torey asked.

“Yeah,” I replied looking at him as if he was stupid.

“Maybe she does have a girly side of her,” He stated with a slight smile.

“She does,” I replied as we got to the hospital.
