*** Jen’s P.O.V ***

“Jen, can you please go get me a coke from the vending machine,” Virginia asked as she was filling out a sheet of paper for one of the patients.

“Uhh sure,” I replied getting up from the rolling chair I was sitting in.

I slowly walked over to the vending machine. As I was walking I saw Marty sitting in front of the vending machine.

“Hello Marty! Merry Christmas,” I greeted as I put a dollar in the slot and pressed the button for a coke.

“Merry Christmas Jennifer! How are you today,” He wondered aloud as he wheeled his wheel chair down the hall, following me.

“I’m good, tired, but good. And yourself,” I asked as we got back to the nurses station.

“I’m fine, just like you,” He flirted as he headed back to his room.

“Alright Marty, I’ll uhh see you later,” I informed as I sat down in the chair I was sitting in before.

“Here ya go Virginia,” I stated placing the coke down next to the paper she was still writing on.

“Thanks Jen! You are a life saver… I hate this headache,” She groaned as she opened it.

“Yeah, I know that feeling! I’ve been have a lot of those in the past month and a half,” I replied leaning back in the chair and closing my eyes shut.

“I can’t wait for this next hour to be gone… We can both leave and relax at home,” Virginia mumbled throwing her pen down on the paper.

“That make’s two of us,” I replied.

“Are you and Tuukka gonna hang out together tonight,” She asked starting a new convocation.

“Nah, we celebrated our Christmas yesterday since I had off. Today he’s celebrating it with a few of the guys,” I told her as I placed my feet on the desk.

I placed the box wrapped in green, blue, white, and red stripes on the ground in front of his white door. Then I knocked on his door and quickly ran into my apartment closing the door quietly. After that I looked through the peep hole and watched him look up and down the hall. He looked down and noticed the box sitting on the green hall carpet. Then he crouched down and firmly grasped it, not sure about how heavy it was. Once he realized it wasn’t heavy he stood up to his normal position. Out of curiosity he started ripping the paper and realized what it was. A smile grew on his face as he saw what it said on the box. Then shock over took that smile. See I had gotten him Clive Christian No. 1, AKA some of the most expensive cologne in the world.

I bet you’re wondering why didn’t give it to him in person. Well here’s what happened after the guys got back from their road trip, which they only lost one game on.

################ Flashback ################

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

“It’s unlocked,” I called from the couch where I was currently lying because I had another migraine.

“Hey Jen! I just wanted to see if you wanted to come over later for dinner,” Torey offered.

“Uhh nah, I’m good,” I replied sitting up to see Torey looking at me with a questionable look on his face.

“Are you ok? You seemed fine earlier,” He worried aloud as he made his way over to the couch and sat down next to me.

“Yes I’m fine,” I replied with a reassuring smile that wasn’t too reassuring.

“Come on Jen! I can see you’re not fine. You have been getting headaches quite frequently and you always look pale and tired,” He pointed out.

“Torey I’m FINE! Some people have to not only take care of themselves but have to take care of like 50 elderly people! You try it and well see how that works out for you,” I shot back slightly raising my voice.

“Jen! There’s more wrong than that I can just tell! You should go see a doc-,” he started in a concerned voice.

“TOREY I’M PRACTICALLY A DOCTOR! I KNOW WHEN I’M SICK AND WHEN I’M NOT! YOU ARE NOT MY DAD GOD DAMN IT! I KNOW – YOU KNOW WHAT!?!?! JUST GET OUT,” I yelled at him, which surprised the both of us.

“See Jen! This is what I’m talking about! You have crazy behave-,” I cut him off by shoving him out the door.

############ End of Flashback ###############

Ever since then I had felt horrible with myself. I haven’t even talked to him since then either, which made me feel like a horrible and disgusting person. Two days later I went to the doctor and he had told me its only stress from work. After that I had done the same routine every day, even the days I had off. I woke up, got ready, made lunch, went to work, came home, watched TV, went to bed and started over. I was miserable for about a week, and I even shut out Tuukka because I couldn’t handle myself correctly.

Once Tuukka and I made up he and I talked almost every day. And of course he and I hung out yesterday, and exchanged presents. He got me a beautiful Necklace that had “Jen+Tuukk” Engraved in it. In return I got him a key chain that had “T and J forever”. Let’s just say we both spent quite a bit on each other.

Slipping out of my daze I noticed that there was an envelope that had been slid under my door. I bent down and picked it up. The envelope was red and had in Torey’s hand writing, “Jennifer”. I took a deep breath and tore it opened. There was a letter on a piece of folded loose leaf paper. Here’s what it said:

Jennifer,

How do I start this? Uhh Merry Christmas! And more importantly; I’m sorry.

I shouldn’t have pushed you to go to a doctor. I am just concerned for you and your health. We, meaning all of the guys and I, want you to be here for a long time to stay. We can all see that your health has kinda decreased and that you’re depressed a good percentage of the time. Please understand that we are very concerned and we care about you- we all love you.

If you want come to my place tonight for dinner then please come. It would be just you and I. To be honest I think we need that, I miss having you and your old happy self around. Hope to see you later.

Love you-

                     Torey

Tears started streaming down my cheeks as I realized he forgave me and that he really did care about me and my health. Soon I stood up and went to my room, changing into something so I could head over to Torey’s for dinner.
