The familiar yet unknown greeting from Ethan beautiful smile made butterflies emerge in my stomach. I stare into his dark eyes as we both didn't say anything, no words were able to do justice to what I was feeling. I was free from the evil touch of Scar Face, his attempt to turn me into a weapon of evil hadn't work, and I fought my way back to Ethan. The smile that was on his face was quickly replaced with a look of confusion as he realised that I was truly standing in front of him, after all, this time.
"Zoey." He whispered. He took a small step back I as if he was afraid I wasn't real, that I would disappear with one touch.
"I'm back," I said in the same tone, the longing, and love communicated through our inability to speak more than a few words.
"How are you here?" He asked.
"I fought back to you Ethan. I found my way back for us." I declared. Ethan reached out slowly at first, but once his hands made contact with my skin and quickly pulled me into his embrace, finally realising that I was real, that I wasn't going to disappear, I was back.
"I have missed you so much Zoey." He whispered into my hair. His breath tickling the side of my neck as he breathed in and out.
"I have missed you too, but it is all over now." I lightly rubbed his back, feeling the curves and muscles that made him. He pulled me closer on my words as if he was trying to weld us together.
"You aren't going to leave again? Are you?" The insecurity was evident in his voice, and it pained me knowing I was the cause of his doubt.
"No. I have finally beaten the darkness within. We are safe." I said sighing in happiness.
I wasn't sure how long Ethan and I just stood there in each other's embraces but I knew this was where I belonged, and I wasn't ever leaving again.
Ethan and I sat on the lounge as he filled me in on everything I had missed since leaving. My brother, Henry, was still in prison Ethan couldn't bring himself to kill him, knowing how much that would pain me. Instead, he and the council had decided that Herny was to be imprisoned for the rest his life for committing treason against the Alpha and his Luna. The pack members who I had murder when I first turned had been buried and a memorial placed near a lake in the forest that their family members could go and remember them, Ethan had also set up a fund to support the families after their loss of income. The guilt the ripped through me because of my actions that night was intense; I still couldn't believe I was cable of murder.
"It wasn't you," Ethan whispered rubbing my hand lightly. "Everyone understands that you were in control of your actions that night."
"But it was me. The darkness was a part of who I was and in so it meant that those actions were because of me."
"No. No one sees it that way but you. You are the Luna of the pack and everyone loves you." I didn't reply because I didn't believe him. How could anyone from the pack forgive me for what I did? I don't even forgive myself for the brutal murder of those men and women.
A knock at the door started both of us; I turned to face it before standing slowly and walking towards the door. Ethan grabbed my hand and pulled me back before lightly sitting me back on the lounge.
"What?" I asked confused.
"I will get it. I am not sure it is." He replied. His protective naturing surfacing making me smile. Ethan walked over to the door and opened it.
"Is Zoey here?" Voice I quickly recognised as Cindy's came from the door.
"Who wants to know?" Ethan's deep voice asked. I jumped up quickly and pushed past Ethan to see Cindy and Tina standing on the front doorstep.
