Zak's P.O.V.

"...and then he said he would love to see where things will go with us but that he just wasn't ready yet for another relationship. He said he needed some time and then...", I paused, the blush becoming evident on my face.

"And then what?!", Skye slammed her hands on the dining table. "You're killing me here! What did he say next?", she pleaded, a look of hope and longing evident on her face, as well as on Brenda and Isabel's who sat flanking me at the table.

It was a Sunday afternoon and they had invited me over for lunch and movies. Apparently, Brenda had cooked; something I was shocked to hear since she always complained about how she hated cooking.

She had made meatloaf and surprisingly, it tasted really good. You would think that someone who hated cooking would make something horrid but it was different with Brenda, she really knew what she was doing, she just didn't want to do it.

After we finished eating, I couldn't help but tell them about yesterday and what Oliver told me after Lily's party. I had been so excited and giddy since then that it was impossible not tell them about it. Besides, they deserved to know. They were not just only my neighbors, they were now my best friends and I was so thankful they had come into my life.

It was weird calling them that because all through my life I had never had someone close enough to call a best friend. Now these three crazy girls had been bestowed that title by me and I too, by them.

Before I told them about what Oliver said to me, I also told them about the events leading up to it, like how my brother made me wear a princess dress and even the showdown I had with my mother. I had never told them about our history before so when I told them about yesterday, they were angry about it like any normal person would be. Skye even had some R rated things to say about my mother in which I took no offence to. Overall, they were happy I stood up to her but annoyed that I didn't invite them to the party. It was for a 3 year olds' party for God's sake, and not even my 3 year old at that.

So, now here I was revealing everything Oliver said to me yesterday, replicating every single word or gesture he made, in minute detail. Yup, I had it bad.

I hadn't noticed I had spaced out for a second because all of a sudden they all chorused "Zak!!!" at the same time, snapping me out of my daze. "What?!"

"He said he needed some time and then what?", Isabel urged.

"...and then we could try to work things out between us.", I fiddled with my fingers, still blushing.

Isabel and Skye instantly let out a high pitched squeal, sounding like something between a dying mouse and screeching car tires, while I looked at them in confusion.

"Don't worry, they're alright. You've finally released their inner fangirl. It's totally normal.", Brenda waved it off. "The only reason I'm not screeching like them is cuz I knew this would eventually happen."

"Really?", I cocked my head to the side.

"Yeah. I know my brother. From the way I've seen him behave around you, it's obvious he's catching feelings. It was only a matter of time before he acted upon it and finally spilled to you. The only thing I'm still doubtful about is if he'll get over his past relationship. Oliver is...Well he's---"

"Oh gimme a break Madame Buzzkill.", Isabel cut her off. "Oliver said he was willing to give them a chance and he wouldn't have said that if he wasn't working on leaving his past relationship where it should be. In the past."
