Oliver's P.O.V.
I stood there staring, with my mouth agape, at the large mansion sitting in front of me. I was completely amazed. The architectural design of it was just simply brilliant. It had a large front yard with a neatly mowed lawn and was decorated with a huge range of flowers in many different colours. It honestly looked like something out of a magazine.
The driveway was done with interlocking stone, which in my opinion, also greatly enhanced the beauty of the property. It was one of those large circular ones with patch of the lawn in the middle featuring a beautiful fountain.
By looking down the right hand side of the property to the backyard, I was able to catch a glimpse of a pool and I was itching to check it out.
I also noticed that there were no Halloween decorations anywhere considering today was Halloween. I mean, every other house had put up scary decorations, even mine. The girls had put some up earlier in the week.
I wondered why there were none. Maybe they were religious or something. I was sure they had their reasons, whatever they were. Regardless, they were more than certainly living the good life.
"Dude, close your mouth before a fly finds its way in.", Evan, one of my buddies, chuckled from beside me while reaching over to push my chin up.
I swatted his hand away. "I mean c'mon man! Have you seen this place? It's like a fucking palace.", I gestured towards the house, rather dramatically.
"I know I know! Damn, man!", he agreed, biting his knuckle in admiration.
"I bet a party here would be really awesome."
"I know right?! But don't worry, we still got that Halloween party to go to later with Jackson and Pete."
"Aww yeahhh.", we fist bumped. "But still, I'm so glad I agreed to help you and your dad with organizing and setting up this party. I could seriously use the cash."
Evan's dad owned a party planning business which was amongst the few in the city considered to be elite, and as of yesterday, when he got a call requiring his services for a last minute party here today, almost all his staff were already booked for parties. Halloween was a big season for party planners.
He only had a couple of staff left and he didn't want to let this customer down, as he was her last resort. Since the few remaining employees weren't enough to complete the massive setup, he asked Evan to help and because I was there at the time, I volunteered to help too.
Evan's dad was really appreciative and even more generous and insisted on paying me for helping, which I happily accepted. Now that there was money involved, it made me even more eager to do it.
Evan and I were going to assist in setting up the decorations. From what I had been informed so far, it was going to be a 3 year old girl's birthday party and it would be a Disney Princess themed one. Typical.
"Could you guys stop staring and come help offload the stuff from the truck?", the employee who also happened to be the entertainer for the party said, rather harshly, snapping us out of our daze. I looked over to see her standing there wearing wearing brown pants and a blue shirt which carried the business logo, 'Fun-time' on it. The two other staff were also wearing the same uniform, something I was grateful I didn't have to do.
"Oh c'mon Lauren. You gotta let off some steam once in awhile, y'know.", Evan turned to face her with a smirk on his face. "Angry isn't a good look on you, babe."
