I am tired of being fat. Christian claims I look better than ever, but I don't buy it. I continue to stare at myself in the mirror and can't help but frown.
"You're pregnant, Ana. Get over it," Christian teases from the bedroom.
I roll my eyes and slip on a soft, purple dress Ms. Acton got from Neiman Marcus. Somehow maternity clothes are more expensive than my normal clothes. I walk back into the bedroom to find Christian slipping on a jacket. I love when he dresses so casually.
"Ready?" He asks.
I nod, moving to the dresser to put on my Cartier earrings Christian bought me a while back. My second chance earrings. I love them almost as much as the charm bracelet he bought me for my birthday. I grab my brush and quickly run it through my hair. I look at myself one more time and then turn to Christian, who is typing out something on his phone.
"Are you ready?" I ask him in a teasing voice. He looks up quickly and gives me his all-American boy smile.
"Yes ma'am," he responds. I grab my purse and walk out of the room.
"Good morning Mrs. Grey," Mrs. Jones calls out from the kitchen. I smile at her and sit down on one of the bar stools.
"Hungry?" She asks, putting pancakes on a plate.
I nod eagerly and wait patiently for her to give me the plate. Food is literally all I think about these days, and I hate it. Well I actually love it but I'm still annoyed with my changing figure. Last night I dreamed of waffles and bacon. No joke. When I woke up, there was a trail of drool across my pillow. Hopefully Christian didn't notice. If he did, he's definitely pretending he didn't, which is one of the reasons I love him.
Mrs. Jones sets down the plate in front of me and I dive in, not noticing Christian sitting on the stool next to me. When I look up, he's smiling at me, and I immediately blush.
"I'm sure I look like a pig right now," I say, my face turning into a deeper shade of red. He laughs and rests his hand on the small of my back.
"How many times do I have to remind you you're pregnant?" He teases, giving me a lopsided smile. I wipe my mouth off with my napkin and scoot my stool back, standing up and grabbing my purse.
"You coming or what?" I ask Christian. He nods his head and stands up too, taking my hand and leading me to the foyer.
"Thanks for breakfast!" I call back to Mrs. Jones as we enter the elevator. As the doors slide shut, my nerves get the best of me and the butterflies come back. I shouldn't be this nervous. It's only work. Then again, Jack Hyde is out there. No, stop it Ana. I'll be fine. Christian is here. I'm okay. The hand that I forgot I'm holding gently squeezes mine and I look up to find grey eyes staring intently into mine.
"You're fine, love. Just breathe," Christian says soothingly. I smile and lean towards him to peck him on the cheek.
"Now, now, Mrs. Grey. There will be none of that on this elevator ride," he teases, wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me close. I instantly rest my head on his chest and match my breathing with his. Just focus on this, Ana. Your safe haven.
Did you guys miss me? I've been so occupied with school and life but I promise there will be chapters coming out every week from now on. Comment to let me know what you want more and I'll be sure to leave you some exciting surprises! XOXO
