Chapter Twenty-Five

Christian's P.O.V.

Her soft breathing fills the room, calming me instantly. Work has become to stressful, and the fact that none of my people have found Hyde is fucking infuriating.

I unbutton my shirt and tug off my jeans, watching Ana's chest rise and fall effortlessly. I've been feeling guilty lately, especially because I haven't been telling Ana the whole truth about the current investigation. I recently found out that Linc is funding Jack to kill me, my wife and my coming baby and I just can't take it anymore. Something needs to be done.

I slide into bed and wrap my arms around Ana's delicate body, bringing her into my chest. She still hasn't fully healed since the attack and I know she hasn't been feeling well recently. The stress is getting to her too, and I can't have her in bad health, nor the baby. The feeling of guilt comes back, flooding my mind. I squeeze my eyes shut, blocking out the thoughts. I snuggle into her and the sweet aroma that is only Anastasia welcomes me. This woman is my life. I don't deserve her in the slightest.

I shudder thinking about how she left me over a year ago. I could barely get out of bed or eat. I close my eyes again and block out yet another awful thought. This has been happening a lot. Negativity consumes me and all I can do is just store it away.

I rest a hand on Ana's stomach and a smile slowly replaces my frown.

"Are you sleeping, little baby?" I whisper, not wanting to wake Ana. I move my body down the bed so that my head becomes equal with Ana's belly.

"I'm scared," I confess, rubbing her stomach softly. I kiss her soft skin tenderly and remember how Ana always tells me I'll be an extraordinary father.

"No matter what happens, I'll always love you and your mother with all my heart," I whisper one last time before moving back and holding Ana again. I soon fall asleep with dreams of diapers and babies. How cliche.
