Everything was quiet and calm. I sat behind a large rock panting as quietly as I could, trying to catch my breath as we had been running for so long. I looked over and stared into the light blue eyes of my partner as he scanned the area for them. He held out his hand and I put my hand in his. His grip tightened, he had seen someone.
"Run!" Ryan frantically whispered. He dashed down the hill, pulling me alone behind him until we got to the bottom and hid behind a large tree. He loaded his gun and looked around the corner for them glancing back at me and smiling.
"Were safe for now." He said under his breath. He set down his gun and looked up at the sky above us, it was a light blue color, like the world was at peace. We heard the bushes russle and we both stood up with our weapons pointed towards the bush. Ryan had a submachine gun while I had a semi-automatic pistol, though I really didnt need it because I had magic.
"Come out, unless your scared of us." I said fearlessly as I pointed my gun at the bushes. The rustling grew louder and I tensed as a rabbit sprang out of the brush and ran the opposite direction.
"They know we're here, we need to go." Ryan said as he cursed to himself. I apologized quickly and then we were running again, through the forest and around rocks and branches that stood in our way.
"You cant run forever!" One of the demons yelled in a deep voice, one that only existed in a nightmare. Ryan kept his mouth shut tightly as we ran, he was exhausted but he didnt want to show it.
"Dont worry, I'll protect you." He said through breaths. I glanced back for a second and saw them right behind us. There were two of them, they wore pure black armor that looked as if it was made of obsidian with red spikes on their shoulders and black masks to cover their faces.
"Amy, watch out!" Ryan said. I looked ahead of me to see a root sticking out of the ground and fell to the floor painfully as I reacted too slowly. I heard a loud click and opened my eyes to see Ryan fall to the ground in front of me, his eyes were open and they stard at me, he had been shot and was alive, but just barely. I got up quickly and crawled over to him to see a dark, warm liquid pooling on the floor around his body. I lifted his hand and squeezed it slightly. He used the rest of his strength to squeeze back before his arm went limp and fell to the floor.
"Ryan..." I whispered as a Tear ran down my face. I heard a twig break and looked up at the approaching enemies. I leaned over Ryan, wrapping my arms around his lifeless body as I waited for the end...
