I gathered up my stuff as fast as i could with one hand and pulled Issi out of the room as fast as humanly possible when the bell rang.
"What was that for? I wanted to talk to Hayden some more." She whined. I said nothing as I continued pulling her behind me.
"Mara- ouch! Let go of my arm!" Issi snatched her arm away from my grip and finally, I stopped to face her.
"That guys a creep Issi, don't get involved with him." I grumbled. Issi crossed her arms and glared at me.
"How would you know!? You only met the guy two hours ago! And you didn't even talk to him once." She yelled. I opened my mouth to say something else but a black shadow caught my attention. I turned to see Hayden leaning against one of the walls in the hallway, staring directly at the two of us. Issi threw up her hands in annoyance and strode towards our usual meeting spot, obviously not noticing his gaze. I followed behind her closely, overly aware of Hayden's eyes stalking my every move.
"There they are. How was class?" Hunter asked, flashing us a smile.
"Why don't you ask little miss cock block over here." Issi grumbled. Hunter and Kyoni's eyes turned to me, full of confusion.
"There was a new student..." I answered. Hunter nodded his head thoughtfully and flashed another ridiculous smile.
"That makes sense. Issi's all about anyone new." Hunter laughed. Issi smacked her lips together, her eyes turned up in annoyance.
"That is not true." She objected. I felt Kyoni's gaze lingering on me and I turned my attention away from Issi and Hunter as they got into their own conversation. I could tell by looking into Kyoni's eyes that he was distressed.
"Cockblocking? What's that supposed to mean?" He asked, a tone of suspicion hidden just under his voice.
"I just told her not to get involved with him... the guys creepy, Kyoni..." I said.
"Creepy how?" He prodded. I glanced around the campus to make sure he wasn't within hearing distance.
"He knew my name." I whispered. Kyoni shrugged.
"So? Issi didn't introduce you to him? Did she use your name?" He questioned.
"Yeah, she did. But she called me Mara."
I could tell by Kyoni's eyes that he didn't see where I was going with this.
"He called me-"
"Amaranth." That sweet voice called. I spun around, simultaneously taking a step back towards Kyoni. Hayden appeared like a ghost shifting dimensions, his dark figure standing just a few feet away from us. Though he wasn't nearby a second ago. Issi wasted only a breif moment before she noticed him and was instantly glued to his side.
"Guys, this is Hayden. I invited him to hangout with us!" Issi squealed. I raised an eyebrow. When the hell did she have time to do that? I felt Kyoni's hand gently press against my back as Hayden watched me, almost completely ignoring Issi.
"Nice to meet you guys. Names Hayden." He smiled and held out his hand. I watched the strange black shadow begin to swirl down his arm and pushed Kyoni's hand away as he tried to be polite. Kyoni shot me an odd look but I chose to ignore it as my eyes met Hayden's. They were so dark I wondered if the shadow that lurked behind him had been born from those eyes. Hayden let his hand drop to his side, a scowl set into his face.
"Hayden, this is-"
"Hunter and Kyoni, right? I've heard about you two." His smile stretched across his face, so natural it was as if that smile had always been there.
