Chapter 10: The Moon's Infection

Before you begin reading this chapter let me warn you: I couldnt resist at least one chapter like this.

I opened my eyes and rolled over on my bed to look at the clock which read 7:20PM. I groaned to myself, I had wanted to sleep longer but time obviously wanted me up. I stretched out and hung my arm lazily over the side of my bed as my mind woke up. Suddenly I jolted up and looked out my window to see the moon glaring down at me through my window.

"Oh man. I totally forgot!" I said. I stood up and rushed to my door but paused and dropped to the floor as it started. I reached up for the doorknob and was able to open the door just a little before I blacked out.

Amaranth opened her eyes as she stood up and brushed herself off. She turned her head slightly to see her eyes, which were bright green. She smiled as she walked out the door and out of her house. She paused as she saw two Tear and Hayden wrapped up together in vines.

"Amaranth! Hey, hey, look were friends, untie us now, yeah?" Hayden said. Tear rolled his eyes and looked at Hayden.

"That's not her." He said. Hayden furrowed his eyebrows and looked at Tear.

"What do you mean that's not her?" He asked. Mara smiled as she walked away and chose to ignore the two boys calling after her. As she got closer to the forest a strange draft of wind made her decide to change course, there werent many monsters out tonight so she would be bored unless she found something to do. She grinned to herself as she walked over a street until she stood directly outside of Kyoni's house. She walked up to the door and knocked harshly, waiting for him to open it. The door opened to reveal Kyoni with messy blue hair and wearing only his pajama bottoms. Mara smiled as she looked at him and he smiled awkwardly back.

"Uh... Mara, I... didnt expect you here..." He said wrapping his arms around his chest, he was obviously nervous. Mara looked at his house inside his door and realized she had never been inside.

"Hey, are you wearing colored contacts?" He asked leaning in closer to her. She only smiled at him.

"Is anyone home?" She asked. Kyoni glanced away and nodded slowly but as he looked back at Amaranth he found her grinning from ear to ear.

"Uh- wha... why? I thought your brother always kept you home at night?" He said. Mara pushed him inside a little as she stepped through the door and shut it behind her.

"Who's home?" She asked. Kyoni glanced up the stairs.

"My mom and dad, but they're sleeping." He said. Mara put a finger to her lips.

"I'll be sure to be quiet, where's your room?" She asked in a hushed voice. Kyoni glanced her over as if he didnt believe it was really her but led her to his room anyways. As he opened the door Mara stood still to see that his room was just as plain as her, though his was a bit more messy. Kyoni turned on his light and walked over to sit on his bed.

"So, why are you here so late?" He asked. Amaranth closed the door behind her and walked over to sit next to him on the bed.

"I just wanted to see you, ya know? We dont hang out so much as we used to." She said shrugging. Kyoni nodded his head but as he turned to face her she tackled him backwards onto the bed and pinned his shoulders down with her arms.

"Wh- Mara, what are you doing?" He asked with his eyebrows raised. Mara smiled as she repositioned herself to be on top of him and leaned down to kiss him. She kept her eyes open as she watched him shudder when their lips touched, he had wanted to be with her for so long. She laced her fingers with his but it wasnt long before ever so faint footsteps could be heard and Mara cursed under her breath.

"What is it?" Kyoni glanced around as she pulled away from him.

"Just wait."Mara whispered. He looked up at her as she pushed herself off of him and stood up. He watched as she opened his closet door and hid inside.

Kyoni stood up to get her, completely confused, but paused when his dad opened his door.

"Hey kid." He said. Kyoni smiled slightly at him and nodded his head.

"I'm up from my nap, you want dinner?" He asked. Kyoni shrugged, unsure of what to say because Mara was hiding in his closet. His father smiled as he closed the door behind him.

Amaranth threw open the closet door and Kyoni stared at her with his mouth open.

"How did you know he was coming to my room? I couldnt even hear him." He said. Mara put a finger up to her lips.

"I need to go, but next time we'll have fun." She whispered with a wink. Kyoni stepped back and sat down on his bed with a dazed look on his face as he watched Mara crawl through his window and off into the night. He stared at his closet in shock wondering what the fuck just happened.
