Much to Junior's disapproval, Justin had driven through most of the back roads, convinced it would be safer and quicker. The fact that he had been right, didn't give Junior any comfort, the journey had still taken too long.

As they turned from Langley Crescent to Waverley Road, they hit traffic going both ways. Justin dropped the car down to ten miles an hour and after a further two hundred yards, the car came to a stop.

Junior opened the door and looked down the road. The road was solid, cars built up all along the way, unmoving.

He leant his head out of the window, took a look down and opened the door. 'I'm walking'

'I'll go with him', Clarise opened her door and exited the car, before Justin could raise any argument.

'Okay. Billy and I will stay with the car, see if we can get it parked up and we'll meet you in there'.

'Okay', Clarise leant in through Justin's window and kissed him gently. She said nothing further, turned and ran after Junior, who had already started walking towards the hospital.

When Clarise caught up. Junior took a moment to thank her for coming with him.

She nodded to him, breathing heavily, due to the pace Junior had taken. The walk was very much a test of maneuvering through obstacles, car doors were opened, and people scattered along the street, with the intention of getting to the hospital or finding out why the traffic had ground to a halt.

As they got closer to the hospital, they saw numerous police officers heading directly towards them. The police were stooping down at the windows to chat to the people in the cars. Others were stopping people heading towards the hospital on foot.

One officer approached them and held up his hand for them to stop. They obliged.

'Where are the two of you going?', he asked.

           'To the hospital', Junior responded

           'For what reason?'

'My mum works there. I'm going to check she's fine'

'What are your names?', the officer was no longer looking at them, but taking notes on a pad in his hand.

           'Junior John and Clarise......'

           'Milford', she added.

           'How did you get here?'

Junior was itching to leave and these seemingly useless questions were preventing him from achieving his objective. As though Clarise could sense his anxieties rising, she cupped her hand round his triceps, calming him instantly.

            'By car'

The officer looked up at him. 'You didn't leave the car in the road?'

             'No. My cousin's with it'

'Make and registration?', the officer said, looking back down at his pad.

'Blue Ford Focus, no idea what the registration is', the officer looked up again, 'it's my cousin's car'

'Okay Sir', the officer said, with a tint of disgust in his voice, presumably about having to call someone younger than him "Sir", 'I think that's all I need. If you can both just fill in your full name and address on this sheet of paper, sign the bottom, then you can be on your way'.
