The moment Clara Thomas John saw her son Junior approaching, all the stress of the day vanished. All the guilt she felt from helping others, while her son was home alone vanished too. All the anxiety of hearing from Justin that Junior had been caught up the shootings earlier, dissipated. This wash of relief, brought with it a renewed energy and a new belief that they could get through the war Britain had brought upon themselves.

Clara had blanked out what Justin had been saying to her and jogged past the multitude of people towards Junior, before he had spotted her.

'Over there', Billy said to Junior, pointing towards the approaching Clara.

'Mum', he said, more to himself than to anyone else. His whole face lit up with happiness and he welcomed her into his arms. They stayed like this for some time, before his mum, leant back enough to bend his head down and kiss him on the forehead.

           'Are you okay?'

'I'm fine mum. I was worried about you'

'I'm sorry. It's just been so busy here'

'I can see', he said with a smile, glancing around him.

'Yeah, it's kind of crazy here. Come let's go to the staff room'

Junior released him mum, saw Justin hugging and kissing Clarise, a felt pang of jealousy drifted past him, which was quickly followed by guilt. He brushed it away, by looking at Adrianna holding onto her leg as she embraced her boyfriend.

They all followed Clara, Junior could hear Clarise introducing Adrianna to Justin.

The room was smaller than Junior had expected, a couch, a table with a sink, a kettle and microwave and a shelve with cup and pots of coffee, tea and sugar. The room was empty and Junior imagined this was only because of how much work was going on.

Once the door was shut. Clara put the kettle on and proceeded to make coffees for everyone.

'You shouldn't have come here Junior'

'I know mum, but when I saw......'

'You should have stayed at your fathers', she interrupted. Junior looked shocked, he hadn't expected that. 'Things are going to get dangerous, I think this is only the beginning. These are the sparks, it's going to ignite soon.'

'It can't get any worse than this mum'

           'He's right', Justin chimed in.

'No', she said angrily, trying to stamp her authority on the room, 'this is the beginning. Most of the major cities like London and Birmingham, have more ethnics than white English, you think they're going to just stand by and let this continue'.

There was silence, no one dared to answer her. She started pouring the hot water into the cups.

'Now drink your coffee and leave. Go and stay the night at Justin's and in the morning find everyone you know and run. Run to London. Soon, it will be one of the only places safe for us'

Junior looked around the room. He was scared. He wondered if the others felt scared too. His mother's words although very brutal, contained a semblance of truth, which he couldn't ignore.

'And you'll come with us tomorrow?', he finally asked.

Her voice calmed and she stepped over to her son. 'No son. My place is here. Many more will need my help. I must stay'.
