The Surprise

Nancy's POV:

I went inside the cafeteria along with Calvin and Vinny for getting coffee and came back to our respective desks and took our seats within no time.
Vinny was busy working with Maggie the entire time since morning.
Even I didn't feel like interrupting them even though I was a bit free at that time.

I logged on to my laptop and there was a ping from Zach:
Hi,please come and see me in my cabin!

I locked my laptop,kept the coffee cup on the desk after finishing it and headed straight to Zach's cabin.

Knock!Knock!

I saw Zach and another man facing his back at me in the cabin. I felt a vibe looking at his stature that I already knew him.

"Yes Ms.Nancy!Get in"

I opened the door and walked inside without a word dropping from my mouth.

"I would like to introduce you to Mr. Patrick. He has joined us today itself and will be working for us in the days to come. He will be an assistant to me."I turned my neck to look at this man. No sooner did my jaw drop and my eyes popped out for a second. I tried to pull a normal expression at the second instance, not to communicate any abnormal expressions to Zach since he was very quick and witty in reading my face!

What the hell is Rick doing here?Why is he here?Hadn't he shifted to The States long time ago? Why did he come back again?These questions came hitting my mind.

"Hello Ms Nancy!I am Rickey Patrick, you can call me Rick"He offered a handshake to which even I had to revert back by extending my hand against my will to show my boss that everything is normal even though reality was different.

"Mr.Rickey Patrick, I'll prefer Rickey!", I declared with a stern voice but a fake smile on my face.

"Ok guys,Nancy just guide him whenever he faces difficulty now that you know my working style and Rickey don't hesitate to ask her. Have fun guys."

With that Rickey went outside the cabin and I was about to leave even turning my back at Zach when he asked me to wait back.

Zach's POV:

"Ms. Nancy,how did you find my surprise?If I am not wrong you both were in the same high school, right?
He has recently shifted to our town and is my neighbor now. We live in the adjacent row houses. Do help him in setting up his home and other things at office. I would appreciate it!"

I found Nancy looking into blank spaces and could definitely figure out that something is wrong. I can smell something definitely is not in proper order. Otherwise the Nancy that I have known would glow out of exuberance and enthusiasm on seeing her high school colleague. But she showed no such signs.
It was as if the surprise from my side came out as a shock to her..

Since I received no response from her I cleared my throat and asked her again,
"Nancy am I clear enough?"

Nancy's POV:

By now I had learned to capture the tyrannical facial expression of his.
I had no option but to accept the bosses' order to help out Mr. Rickey.

"Yes yes!Was indeed an unexpected surprise. I am seriously shocked! It was as if out of the blues!"

So much lie in one sentence. I hate to lie but had no choice because I had no other option left with me.
"Thanks Zach,I never thought of me and him working together."

With that I left his cabin.
The hectic week was over and I drove back home.
I am glad that Veronica and Nicholas were coming to my place. There was so much to discuss. I needed reasons for some questions that had already started occupying my mind.

I took a bath and changed into my comfortable pyjamas.

I was too tired for the barbeque plan. So I cancelled it. I went to the kitchen and opened Nutella bottle when I found a handwritten note on the refrigerator which said that Mother and father were already out of town to attend function at my mom's best friends place and were going to return back tomorrow Evening.

I had to order from the restaurant for my meal arrangements.
I soon heard the doorbell ring.

Ting tong..

"Yes,Coming!" I shouted.

"Welcome welcome sugar bears! Come inside!"

The night is going to be long for many confessions and discussions are going to happen....
