Hold On

The Duel

Jesse's PoV:
I couldn't stop sobbing and hugging Reuben. Thoughts rushed through my head and a wave of guilt and regret just made the tears flow faster.

Suddenly, someone grabs me from behind. I didn't know who. I tried screaming but it was no use.

No one can hear me plead.

A familiar voice whispers in my ear as my mouth is covered by their hand, "don't worry, you're safe now"

...Aiden

I tried to break free but he was too strong. Whenever I tried to struggle, he'd kick the backs of my legs causing my knees to buckle, leaving me weak.

When aiden finally let go, I fell on my knees to the floor. I was weak but I still tried to run.

Aiden grabbed me, pulling my waist toward him as he says, "a beautiful girl like you shouldn't be out here all by herself."

I shook as I fell to the ground again. Only to be dragged by aiden to a wall where he pinned me on to.

I tried again to escape but I was weak and just gave up.

Aiden put his hands on my hips and brushed a piece of hair that was draping down in front of my eye.

I snarled at him but he laughed and touched me. I tried to stop him but his strength was too much.

I screamed as loud as I could but I was cut off when I hear a familiar voice say, "get off her Aiden."

"No way lukas, you're not ruining this for me."

Lukas. I thought.

"Lukas! You have to help m-" I was cut off when Aiden takes his shovel and swings it into my head.

The last thing I see is lukas's deep blue eyes gazing at me with shock as he watches me fall to the ground.

I black out.

I wake to see lukas and Aiden fighting. Their swords clanged, sending a high pitched ringing sound straight through my ear.

I sit up and watch, still in shock over the previous events.

Lukas falls to the ground as he is slashed in the face by aiden's sword.

I scream "stop Aiden" as I bolt toward him with every last bit of energy I had in me.

I punch him in the face but he just looked at me, smirking. He turned his sword to me and I wince as I prepare for the blade to hit me.

I hear a shout and Aiden fell to the ground.

He looked at Lukas, now on his feet pointing the sword down at Aiden. He looked at me.

Aiden turned and ran. He had blood dripping from his arm and his face was bruised from me.

I look at Lukas and I break down crying.

Lukas looked at me with his deep blue eyes and wiped my tears away.

"You're hurt" I say as I look at lukas's cheek. There was a large gash from where his skin had been sliced by aiden's sword.

"I'm fine. Are you okay?" He says looking at me with concern.

I begin to cry again and I slump down on the floor. Lukas knelt beside me and hugged me.

He knew that I was hurting and so did I so I buried my head into his chest and let all my tears flow.

Lukas put his hands on my shoulders "Jesse, right?"

I nodded whilst trying to help the cut on lukas's face.

"What did he do to you?" Lukas asked softly.

I stopped looking at the cut on lukas's face and began to cry again. I couldn't help it.

"It's Reuben... H-he-he's gone." I murmured through the tears.

"Gone? As in lost or-" I cut him off and just screamed "DEAD...he's dead an-and it's all my fault."

I got off my knees and limped as fast as I could to Reuben.

When I saw him again, it broke my heart and I fell down next to him. I prayed that I would wake up and that it is just a bad dream.

Lukas put his hand on mine as I stroked Reuben's scars.

He looked at me and winced. "What did he do when I came over to you?..."

I looked up at Lukas as he wiped my tears away again.

I fell down onto Reuben and just cried every last tear out of me.

Olivia, Petra and axel run up to me. "What happened? Are you oka-" they were cut off when they realised what had happened. "Oh no" Axel whispered. Olivia looked at the ground and I new (even though I wasn't looking at her) that she couldn't bare to see Reuben like that. Even Petra was upset.

Lukas's PoV:
I ran towards the screams and I see her pinned against a wall by aiden. I didn't know what he was doing but I knew that she was in trouble.

She looked weak.

She had bruises on her face.

I scream "get off her aiden" and he turned to me.

I didn't know what he was saying as I looked at her and the eyes. They weren't the same. They were bloodshot and filled with fear. She had mascara all down her cheeks and she clearly had been hit by aiden.

Aiden finished talking and she screamed my name but she was cut off by aiden who knocked her out.

My heart sank.

My mind filled with thoughts and rage. I charged at aiden and lunged my sword at him. He dodges it. I lose my grip of the sword, sending me to the ground. Aiden slashed his sword across my face and the girl shouts "stop, aiden" Aiden turned the sword at her and I hastily get to my feet and push aiden to the ground. He whimpers and runs off.

I look at the girl, eyes still full of fear. I drop my sword as she falls to her knees. I comfort her an she buries her head into my chest. I look at her and I wipe the tears away.

I didn't know what aiden had done or was about to do, but I know I would get my revenge no matter what.
