Hold On

The Temple

Jesses PoV:
I get up and climbed down the ladder as fast as I could go.

"Lukas? Lukas? Where are you?" I scream into the woods.

"Jesse?" I hear a voice shout.

"Lukas? Is that you?" Yell as I notice a striped top between two trees.

"What are you doing here? It's too dangerous." Lukas says with his hands on his hips.

"And it isnt to dangerous for you?" I say with a smirk.

"I'm fine, honest." Lukas says turning and walking off.

"Wait! What was that explosion then?" I say, making Lukas turn back to look at me.

"What explosion?" Lukas says raising an eyebrow.

"Well...I heard...and so I...yeah" I say rubbing the back of my neck.

"I'm fine. I told you." He says as he, again, walks off.

"Lukas, look out!" I scream as a creeper comes out from his left.

He dives as it explodes.

"Jesse behind you!" He shouts as a hoard of zombies gather behind me.

We run back to the treehouse.

"Are you okay?" He says looking at a cut on my face where a zombie had slashed my cheek.

It reminded me of when he got the cut on his face when we first met. He has a scar where it was.

Then I remember Reuben.

I push his hand away.

"Let's just get to safety, okay?" I say climbing the ladder.

I start coughing as I grab the wall for support.

"What's going on?" He says as we sit with our backs to the wall.

"Nothing, i'm fine. I say looking away.

"Something is obviously wrong. Why can't you tell me?" He says whilst putting his hand on my shoulder.

"I...I just can't" I say trying to hold the tears back. "Our main focus is stopping this wither storm, right? So can we just forget about this and get back to the main problem?" I say looking into his eyes.

"No." He says kneeling now. "Something is up and you need to tell me."

"I...I...ugh just-" I cut myself off as I roll up my sleeve revealing a purple rash covering my forearm.

"Jesse. Why didn't you tell me? Olivia? Anyone?" He says with worry in his eyes as he grabbed my arm.

"I didn't want to worry anyone-" Lukas cuts me off "this is wither sickness, Jesse. It's very serious and you need help."

I tug my arm out of his grasp and roll down my sleeve.

We sit together and I rest my head on his shoulder.

"I have to confess something." I say bringing my knees up to my chest and wrapping my arms around them.

"What is it?" Lukas says as he brings one knee up and puts one hand on it.

"Back at Endercon, in the woods I mean." I say with worried eyes.

"Yes..." Lukas says hesitantly.

"Well, aiden didn't just...Reuben. When I he had me against the wall...he-" Lukas cut me off again.

"I know." Lukas says as he looks down.

"I didn't want to believe it so I never said anything." Lukas says looking at me as if he regretted not doing anything.

"I don't know why I brought that up I just...wanted to say thanks, I guess." I say with a forced smile.

"For what?" He says confused

"Just being there for me. Right from the start. I...thank you." I say hugging him.

He hugs back but the moment was broken when I hear the same explosion from before.

"What was that?" Lukas exclaims, standing up in shock.

"That's what I heard before." I say as I struggle to my feet, rubbing my arm.

We both squint our eyes as we look into the distance.

"No." I whisper.

"Not now." Lukas says with dread in his voice.

We both stare at the silhouette of the wither storm.

I run to the others and wake them up.

"We have to leave" Lukas says as his voice is drowned out by the screams of civilians below us.

We climb down the ladder to see people left, right and centre; all of them were running from the wither storm that was tearing the ground up.

We see Gabriel and Ivor run past but Gabriel stops as Ivor continues to run.

"We need to get to my temple. We will be safe there." Gabriel orders. he runs off and we follow.

"There it is!" Petra exclaims.

We run into the temple and into the obsidian chamber.

"Jesse, whatever happens, you must reunite the order of the stone. The amulet will guide you to their temple that should tell you everything you need to know." Gabriel says handing me the amulet.

"Through the portal!" Gabriel commands as he gets knocked over by one of the wither's tentacles.

"We're not leaving you." I scream as I draw my sword and slice the tentacle.

Olivia and axel hurried through the portal but Petra stayed and drew her sword too.

Lukas kept shouting for us to go through the portal but I couldn't leave Gabriel.

2 tractor beams shone down and Petra and Gabriel went up with them.

I couldn't choose but I couldn't leave Petra so I grabbed her leg but I soon realised that I was being pulled up too.

"Lukas! Help!" I screamed.

He grabbed my leg and we fell out of the tractor beam.

A tentacle smashed the roof, sending me flying into Lukas and going straight through the portal.

When we got through I stood up and looked around for Petra.

"Where's Petra?" Axel asks confused

"I thought she was behind us" Lukas says looking worried.

The portal started swirling meaning someone was coming through.
