"Sorry," I mumble awkwardly to Jake, taking his hand and leading him to our table, where I checked my phone for any messages. He looked pretty disappointed, but reassured me that it was okay.

Funny thing was, I had no missed calls, no one had tried to contact me in the past hour. I shrugged it off, unsure why Shawn had interrupted our moment.

"So what were you saying?" I ask him, as we made our way back to the dance floor. He took both my hands into his, and we danced together. The tempo of the song was faster than the previous song, and the two of us were enjoying ourselves, loosely dancing and having a good time.

"Nothing, G, it's really nothing," he says, pushing it aside. I wanted to force it out of him, but since tonight was an important night, I didn't want to start a fight. He kissed my forehead so I knew that everything was alright.

We continued to dance together, in a quite comfortable silence. We took in each other's presence and we enjoyed it. That was one of the things I loved about Jake, the silence was never awkward.

In the corner of my eye, I saw a photo booth. Jake and I had already taken pictures when we initially got there and before hand, but I thought the idea was adorable. "Jake," I say, stopping my dancing, "Can we use the photo booth?"

"Of course, babe," he responds, making my stomach erupt in butterflies; or maybe it was anxiety because quite frankly, not too many guys have called me babe.

We step in, closing the curtain behind us. We were going to get five pictures, and two copies of them for each of us.

In the first picture, we have our tongues out. We both looked really funny and I was pleased with the way it turned out.

In the second we were smiling, and Jake's smile was enough to make my entire day. His teeth were white and straight, and his eyes glistened. It's a work of art.

In the third he was kissing my cheek and my cheek had turned a dark shade of red. Only one guy had ever kissed me, and it was Jake.

In the fourth he was caressing my cheek and we were staring into each other's eyes with such admiration, I was extremely satisfied with the way this picture came out.

In the fifth, he gently pressed his lips against mine, and he kissed me. Actually, even after the picture was taken, we didn't stop kissing.

I couldn't stop smiling. I had made so memories already, and the night wasn't even over. I had my first kiss. I'm here with Jake, a hot ass guy who makes me feel important.

We walk out hand in hand, we were both smiling big. Shawn looked at me for a split second and quickly turned his attention off me, and onto his date. "See, G, Mendes can't keep his eyes off you."

And part of me wished his attention would divert towards me. I used to want this with Shawn. I wanted to be his date tonight and he didn't ask me, and I had major Shawn feels at the time.

I would show him how much fun I was having, even if it wasn't with him. I found a great guy to take me, and I wouldn't trade Jake for Shawn.

"What can I say?" I joke, "Look at me."

"You do look very, very gorgeous, baby," he compliments, holding his arm high in mine and twirling me around a few times. I laughed, he made me so happy.

"G? Would you mind if we went outside for a second?" He asks, kind of sheepishly.

"Let's go," I say, and he takes his hand in mine and guides me outside, and we sit on the gazebo that was a block down from where the dance was.

We sat, in silence for a few minutes. Until he spoke up.

"I-uh-I-I would-um.," he pauses, "Sorry, G, I really don't know how to do this and I'm nervous, but I'll try. So I know things went really bad for us at the beginning and I'm so sorry. But since then, I've realized what a great girl you are. You make me a better me. And I was wondering if you'd be my girlfriend."

I froze. My body didn't know how to respond to this, I was in shock that someone like him would want someone like me.

"I mean it's okay if you don't-"

"No, Jake, I'd love to," I interrupt, giving him a big smile.

"You scared me," he laughs, and he leaned in and kissed me one last time before we headed back to the dance. And I couldn't be happier.
