Grace's POV
It was the night we'd all been waiting for. I'd spent hours getting my hair and make up done to absolute perfection for this night. Ryan knew a friend who styled hair and make up and convinced her to do mine for the dance tonight, and it looks great. I bought an expensive dress that made me look amazing for this night.
Although I wished Shawn had asked me to the dance at first, I overcame that. Jake was truly a great guy and I knew I was going to have a lot of fun. Nothing could ruin this night for me.
As Jake escorted me into the ballroom, my jaw dropped in amazement. It looked beautiful, there was w disco ball, flashing lights, a DJ, and a huge food table. The tables were decorated with adorable centerpieces in the middle. I grinned, smiling at Jake.
We would be sharing a circular with Shawn and Lauren, and Robbie and Morgan.
Jake looked amazing, I couldn't believe how nicely he cleans up. He has his hair gelled into the same old quiff it's always in, and the blue bow tie around his neck really brought out the blue hidden in the middle of his eyes.
Let's face it, Jake is fucking hot.
When we reached our table, he pulled out my chair for me, and we both took a seat.
"You look so beautiful, not sure if I told you yet," Jake flirts, smiling to himself, his eyes locking with mine.
"You have," I giggle, "But thank you, you look amazing." A short, comfortable silence fell between us, and that's when another couple arrived.
"Morgan! You look so pretty!" I gush, admiring how nicely the dress fit her. She usually hated dressing up, and I was surprised at the amount of make up she wore and how nicely her hair looked. Even though it was a lot more than she usually did, I thought that she looked gorgeous, and felt she should dress up more.
"Look at you, hot stuff!" She squeals, embracing me in a hug. I hug Robbie, and she hugs Jake, and then they sit beside us.
"Shawn and Laur should be here any minute," Robbie says, looking down at his phone, where I assumed Shawn had texted him.
The DJ's music got louder as more couples arrived, and after we ate, I knew that me and Jake were going to go on the dance floor. Dancing was my favorite part of dances, you could be crazy but you could also be slow and caring, and I thought it was so much fun.
Jake reached for my hand under the table, and held it, giving it a small squeeze. I smiled at him, squeezing his hand back.
When Shawn arrived, I instantly couldn't take my eyes off of Lauren's dress. She must've spent hundreds and hundreds on it, it was beautiful. Her hair looked amazing, and I envied her appearance tonight. I guess Jake noticed I was eyeing her, and whispered in my ear, "Don't worry, baby girl, you look way more gorgeous." He then rested a hand on my thigh, and I no longer looked at Lauren. A blush formed on my cheeks, and I smiled a huge smile.
I wasn't jealous of Shawn or his date, Jake was going to make tonight so fun for me, even if Shawn's date looks more appealing than I do.
I took a second to glance at Shawn, and he looked great as well. But I quickly looked away, not wanting Jake to get the wrong idea. I really wanted things to work out between the two of us, I had to focus on Jake.
The principal of the school walked up to the microphone on the DJ stage, tapping it so everyone silenced and gave her their full attention. "Hello students, welcome to the Autumn Ball!" kids began clapping, and she patiently waited for everything to calm down before she continued. "Dancing will be open throughout the whole ball. However, we have to keep the dancing appropriate." Kids booed her, causing me and Jake to laugh.
"That was directed to you and Rob, Morgan," I tease, and she rolls her eyes and sticks her tongue out at me.
"Food will be served as soon as I'm done talking. We will have all different kinds of food; there will be something for everyone! You can leave song requests at the DJ station, where you can also vote for the Autumn Ball king and queen. Please be safe, stay appropriate, and have fun!" she booms into the microphone, and everyone claps.
Our table was called, and me and Jake held hands as we got our food. I was scared to get stains on my dress, so I was cautious about what I picked. Jake and Robbie had a plate full of food, however. I love my food, and I feel comfortable eating like a pig around everyone, but I spent too much on this dress for it to get ruined.
We ate, talking and laughing. Shawn's eyes occasionally flickered to me, and he started for a moment, before he'd look away. Jake clearly noticed, because he excused us from the table and we went to dance.
"Damn, G, wish you didn't look so good tonight," he whines with a laugh, "Mendes can't keep his eyes off you."
"Is someone jealous?" I ask, smirking. He blushes and looks down.
"Maybe a little."
A slow song came on, and he wrapped his arms around my waist, and my arms went around his shoulders.
We swayed back and forth, and I felt genuinely happy. Honestly, I had never slow danced with a boy before, but I'm glad it was simple and easy to get the hang of.
I loved being with Jake, he made me feel good about myself. He was a charmer and he was funny.
As the song came to an end, our eye locked. My heart started to race, I wanted to kiss him so very bad.
"G?" he asks, biting his bottom lip, as his eyes flicker from my eyes to my own lips.
"Yes?" I breathe, feeling nervous, but I wanted this so bad.
"Can I kiss you?" he asks, tucking a strand of hair behind my ears.
I nod, smiling, and his lips crash against mine, for probably the best kiss I've ever had. His lips were soft against mine, and I never wanted this moment to end.
He pulls away, smiling to himself. "G?"
I nod.
"Will you be my-" he begins, but is cut off by Shawn, telling me that my phone had been ringing in my purse.
