After the paramedics woke up, they looked around to see that the hood of the squad was wedged into a ditch. The front was smoking and that perked the half conscious team up and to get out of this dangerous and unknown spot.
"What just happened?" Johnny asked wiping blood from his eyelids and looking to his shocked friends
"Are you guys okay?" Miranda asked. Her forehead had a deep cut that was bleeding heavily. Almost as fast as the river under them. Her brown hair was partly red from the flowing fluid and the cab smelt of sweat, blood and burning flesh.
"Yeah" Roy said. He had his helmet on the whole time and probably did the worst damage to Miranda's head from slamming into her on the way down.
"Yeah. I'm fine Randi" Johnny said, "But you aren't" He said with concern
"I'm fine.. Just get me out of here" She said slowly. Roy nodded and looked around. He wondered where the people who were behind him, went. Why would they just leave the scene?
"Ok. I don't think that we will tip, Johnny, try opening your door. Mine's jammed" Roy said
"'K" He tried the handle and it wouldn't budge, "Sorry" He said with a frustrated and weak sigh
"Try the radio" Randi said. Roy nodded, and picked up the walkie talkie and pressed the button to make a call
"Dispatch, this is Squad 51" He said, and took his hand off the button, he tried again, " Dispatch, this is Squad 51, I repeat, Squad 51 our vehicle has gotten into a major accident and we are injured. We need help at our location" Roy said shakily. Only static came in through after and some beeping, "Dispatch, please. We need immediate help" His tone began to get more and more scared. Johnny and Randi looked at Roy. More beeping and static came "Dispatch, if you are trying to radio back through, we cannot read you. We are only getting static!"
"If something's coming through like static, I think it just means we're able to get through. Not receive. The antenna must be moved.." Miranda said shakily
"Must be. Let's get out of here though. I'm not going to wait to be rescued" Johnny said squirming around. He broke the window with his elbow and started to wiggle out
"Hey! Cool it Junior!!" Roy said, "What's under ya?"
"Sand. Barely." Johnny said peering his head out. It tipped the truck forward a bit.
"How about breaking the back window?" Roy said
"Alright," Johnny said. He gave Miranda her helmet since she was in a daze and he then broke the back cab window. The shards went everywhere and sparkled in the moonlight
"Creepy" Miranda said looking back. Roy and John put her through first as the squad tipped back and forth. She went to the end of the bed and took the supplies and put them at her end to counterweight it.
"We need to go slowly and together" Johnny said, breathing heavily
"You alright sport?" Roy asked. He spit out the blood that was dripping down his cheek
"Yeah. I'm scared." He said raising his eyebrows
"Yeah... Me too.."
