"Where you going?" Niall asked noticing that I still had my backpack around my shoulder.
"Oh um no where," I mumbled sitting back down. I'm just glad Harry left.
"Are you okay? What did he say to you?" Niall asked looking a bit worried, "Harry comes on a little strong sometimes. Especially with the ladies...if you know what I mean." I scoffed in agreement. Harry actually hasn't tried anything with me other than the first time we met. If anything harmless flirting.
"Oh he didn't say anything. I'm fine," I said taking my text book back out, "He was just telling me about your dad." I wanted to change the subject away from Harry as soon as possible.
"My dad?" he asked sitting across from me. He didn't seem that surprised, like it's a normal topic that pops up a lot around here.
"Yeah...you're dad was the former president here right?"
"Yeah," he said looking down. His body posture changed, seeming to sink down in his chair.
"Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to-" he stopped me.
"It's okay. I get that a lot. He's the one who made me join this stupid fraternity," he fiddled with his thumbs.
"Oh you don't wanna be in a frat?" I asked, it never really occured to me that Niall might want to go against his dad's wishes.
"No not really," he made sure no one else was listening, "Honestly I think frats are stupid. Especially the boys in them, they're all so immature."
"Tell me about it..." I said before diving into the textbook reading.
...
"Riley?" I called walking through the door to our dorm.
"Hey," she smiled. She was sitting on her bed with another one of her flawless ponytails. She was wearing thick framed glasses and sweats.
"Hey." She flipped through the magazine beneath her.
"Where were you?" she asked casually while not looking up.
"I was doing homework with Niall," I said dropping my bag to the floor.
"Niall? Pledge Niall? The cute blonde who was dressed as a bloody maid yesterday?!" she asked humor in her eyes.
"Yeah. That's the one," I said almost laughing along with her, "You think he's cute?"
"Yeah...don't you?" a small blush of pink spread across her cheeks. I shrugged. I guess he's not that bad...but I'd never look at him that way. He's my best guy friend so far, and no way I was even going to let myself think about him like that. And besides...he wasn't my type anyways.I thought back to what Harry had said.
"I just imagine you being with a guy a little more like you. A little more, I don't know, headstrong and brave."
"Chelsea?" Riley waved a hand in front of my face.
"Huh? Sorry," I mumbled.
"I said do you wanna go to the mall with me? I haven't gone back to school shopping yet," she said getting up. Neither have I.
"Sure," I replied. I wasn't planning on actually shopping, but I guess I'll keep her some company. I didn't want to stay in the room all night, alone.
...
"What do you think?" her tiny figure squirmed under the yellow dress she held up to herself. I raised an eyebrow. Definitely not my style, but definitely hers.
"It's really cute."
She smiled, tucking a stray piece of dirty blonde behind her ear. She turned back to the mirror and twirled around in the dress a few times. We've been in Macy's for at least an hour and I've watched Riley try on at least 20 pieces of clothes.
"Hey are you gonna be much longer?" I paused for a second, "Because I wanted to run to the food court really quick to grab something to eat. Or I mean I can wait and we can go togeth-"
"No you go ahead. I'll be here," she sang her words scurrying back into the dressing room to try on more clothes. I giggled quietly. Riley's not the type I thought I'd ever become friends with. One second she's all shy and innocent with her little ponytail, but then other times she's drunk off her ass.
I made my way through the busy mall, guiding myself with the signs to the food court. I smelt all types of fast food as I got closer, but before I got there I heard something behind me. I turned on my heels to find a line of boys heading my way.
My eyes widened as I recognized two of them Niall and Harry.
I quickly turned back around, hoping no one saw me. I tried to pick up my pace before-
"Chelsea!" I bit my lip stopping in mid-step. Niall. I thought about pretending I didn't hear him, but I turned anyways. I faked a small smile, embarrassment creeping up into my cheeks. "What are you doing here?"
I looked at the line of boys, all frat boys. There were maybe 7 of them, Harry standing next to Niall.
"Um-" I looked over and caught eye contact with Harry. He had a smirk placed carefully on his lips and he was looking down at his toes, "I'm here with Riley."
"I don't see a Riley..." one of the boys said. I did recognize another one of them. It was the red-head, Rob was it? I glared at him and spun back around. All I wanted was something to eat right now. I felt the presence of the boys behind me as they followed me. I turned around nearly smacking Harry right in the face.
"What are you guys even doing here?" I asked annoyed.
"We're shopping what does it look like?" Harry said taking a step closer to me. I took a step backwards.
"You boys? Shopping?"
"We actually came to check out the chicks!" one of the boys on the other end called. Of course, I should've guessed that. Before I could leave again a warm hand grabbed onto my wrist.
"Why don't you stay--eat with us?" Harry stuttered. I looked at him confused.
"Um. I'll pass, but thanks. Riley's probably looking for me," I said.
"Oh c'mon Chelsea. It'll be fun!" Niall peeped from beside Harry. I groaned, there was no way I'm getting out of this is there? I shot Niall a warning glance, only to get subtle puppy dog eyes in return.
"Fine. Hurry up and let's eat," I huffed.
"Niall go get me and Chelsea pizza from Sbarro," Harry ordered. Niall nodded before heading off.
"Wait what? Who said I want pizza?" the anger was evident in my voice and so was the annoyance.
"I did," Harry said walking ahead of me to an empty table. The other boys walked off in various directions to get their own food.
"And who said you can make Niall get it for us? I can get it myself you know," I'm tired of everyone thinking that I can't handle anything myself just because I'm a girl.
"I know. But Niall needed something to do anyways," he said rubbing off the matter and sitting on the stiff black chairs at the table. There were only 4 seats. "Are you gonna sit down?" he motioned to the seat across from him. I crossed my arms in front of my chest and stared at him.
"Why do I always seem to run into you?" I asked watching the grin appear on his face.
"I don't know. Coincidence?" he shrugged playfully. I rolled my eyes.
"Look I don't plan to be your little toy that you get to make fun of and play with. And no way in hell am I doing anything sexual with you, so you should probably just give it up now," I spoke my accent slurring my words. His face fell along with his shoulders as he slowly nodded. Before he had time to respond Niall came back with two pizzas in his hands. I thanked him before digging straight in.
Harry was silent for the rest of the meal.
