"Ignore them," Joy murmured. "Just... ignore them!"

Riley passed the cool kids on the bus, while Amy stared at her. It had been a week since the pizza parlour incident, and all the cool kids did was stare at her. Riley still sat alone on the bus. Hey, there was enough seats. Riley didn't mind. She didn't usually get a lot of alone time.

"...stupid shirt." Riley heard a voice say. Then, laughter rung out from where the cool kids were.

"It about our Snoopy shirt!" Sadness said, tearing up.

"No, it's probably not, Sadness." Joy said.

"I told you guys we should've worn our red sweater today!" Disgust shouted from the other side of headquarters.

"So," Mia said. "Andrew told Theo, who told Jordan, who told Chris, who told Maya, who told Jimmy, who told Parker, who told me, that Andrew is going to ask me out!"

Riley dropped the carrot stick she was about to dip into her hummus. "What? Seriously?"

"Awesome, right?"

No, Riley thought. Not awesome. I wish a guy would ask me out.

Jordan's name floated into her mind. Fear waved the cloud carrying it away.

"We don't like Jordan!" Fear said. "Why are we thinking about him?"

"Why does everyone like Mia and not us?!" Anger cried.

"WE SHOULD HAVE WORN THE SWEATER!" Disgust screamed. Sadness laid on the couch and sobbed.

"Everyone, calm down!" Joy shouted.

"How can we?!" Anger cried. "We have absolutely no idea whats going on with us!"

Joy sighed. "I... I think..."

"What? WHAT?" Fear begged.

"I think we have a crush on Jordan."

"...Riley?" Mia said.

"Sorry, must've zoned out," Riley blushed.

"I said that the Fall dance is in a few weeks!"

"Oh," Jordan can dance, right?

"And that Andrew would probably ask me to it,"

"Do I have to wear a dress?"

"I don't think so. My older sister says they're pretty casual, but you can't wear jeans,"

"So, like, nice pants or a skirt?"

"I guess."

On his way to art, all Jordan could think about was what Andrew had told him at lunch.

"Ask her to the dance," he had said. "You don't want to go solo."

"Her" was Riley. Without a doubt, Jordan had a crush her. But he never imagined it going past the friend zone. He couldn't ask her to the dance, but at the same time, he had to.

"Can't I just wait until the actual dance to ask her?" he had said.

"No way," Andrew had replied. "I'm asking Mia on Friday. You should ask Riley soon. The dance is only in three weeks."

Three weeks was plenty of time to ask Riley to be his date. Apparently, the dances at this school, except prom, were pretty casual, which Jordan liked. It reminded him of his middle school dances, where people actually danced and drank punch and nobody worried about bringing a date.

"Act cool!" Joy alerted the other emotions. Jordan had just walked into art class. Riley's face was turning red, probably.

Jordan felt someone elbow him as he glanced over at Riley. He turned to see Andrew grinning like a maniac. Jordan shook his head, and Andrew's smile fell right off.
