Andrew asked Mia to the dance that Friday. Riley heard Amy say that everyone was acting like middle schoolers about it. They had barely just started high school!

"We should ask Jordan," Joy said.

"No!" The other emotions shouted.

"Why not?"

"He'll reject us." Sadness moaned.

"And if he rejects us..." Anger started heating up. He stormed out of the room.

"Yeah, what if he rejects us? Or laughs? Will Amy think we're acting "middle school-ish" about it?" Fear chewed on his fingernails.

"Ew," Disgust said to Fear. He stopped biting his nails. "I have to agree with Fear. We don't want to be the girl who acts childish over a dance date."

"Guys, shut it! It will be fine! We'll ask him next week, maybe." Joy said.

"UNLESS SOMEONE ELSE ASKS HIM!" Anger screamed from the other room.

"Marcus is going with Amy," Mia said as she and Riley took off their skates. Practice was over. "And Lilly is taking Theo,"

"Is Jordan going with anyone?" Riley asked casually, placing her helmet beside her.

Mia didn't say anything. She knew something. Mia took a breath and was about to speak, but a voice rang out from across the rink.

"Mia! Riley! Hey!"

It was Andrew. He must've gotten to practice late. The other boys had just started.

Mia waved at him, fluttering her eyelashes. Riley rolled her eyes. Mia turned her attention back to Riley.

"The guys have been saying that Jordan is going to ask you,"

"What?"

"Yeah. Andrew said that he likes you,"

"Nuh uh,"

"I'm not joking!" Mia knocked over her helmet onto the floor. It made a noise, which made Riley jump. "Why would I joke about this?"

Riley looked at the boys doing warm-ups. Jordan was there, looking quite cute.

"This cannot be real!" Anger said.

"Mia wouldn't lie to us." Joy replied.

"You're right," Riley said. "This is not a joke. It's cool, I guess,"

"Do you like him? Would you say yes?"

Riley thought for a moment. "Can you keep a secret?"

"Yeah, why?"

"So maybe I do kind of, sort of, maybe like Jordan..."

Mia screamed. A few of the boys on the ice looked at her.

"Mia!"

"Sorry. But seriously?!"

"Don't tell anyone!"

"Cross my heart!" Mia stood up and walked with Riley to where their moms picked them up. "So, if he asks you, are you going to say yes?"

"I don't know."

"Ok. Got to go." Mia's mom's car pulled up.

"She better not tell." Anger mumbled.
