Chapter 6

Mia didn't tell. Thank the Lord.

"It's one week until the dance!" Fear cried. "He hasn't asked!"

"He'll ask." Joy said.

Nothing, at least, for a while. Then, the day before the dance, Jordan asked her something, but not about the dance.

"What's your Instagram?"

"Oh, here, I'll write it down." She took a piece of paper out from her notebook and wrote her username, then handed it to Jordan.

"Thanks," he said. "Check your DM's tonight."

"What?" Joy said. "He didn't ask us?" Sadness started to tear up. "Oh, Sadness. We don't need a date!"

"Yes we do! Everyone else had one!"

Joy sighed.

Riley found Mia after school and told her what had happened. "It goes down in the DM!" Mia sang.

"Shut up." Riley told her.

The school bus pulled up. As Riley walked towards it, she saw Mia giggling. What was that girl up to?

"I am such a wimp!" Jordan said under his breath. It was late, really late. Like, 11:00. He still hadn't asked Riley to the dance.

He grabbed his phone from his nightstand, but put it back. He picked it up again, but this time, he typed a message to Riley.

Riley had gotten into her bed at 10:00, but hadn't dozed off yet. All she could think about was Jordan not asking her. Maybe he would in the morning? But that would be too last minute...

"Stop worrying!" Joy said. The other emotions had settled down for the night, but Joy stayed near the controls, waiting for a sign of Jordan.

Riley's phone beeped. She picked it up. It was something on Instagram. Oh my God. It was from Jordan.

"Are you going to the dance?"

Riley thought for a moment. Was she going?

"I don't know :/"

"Do you want to go with me? :)"

"YES!" Joy screamed.

Sadness and Anger came into the room. "Would you be quiet?" Anger asked, yawning.

"How can I when... when... this!" Joy pointed at the screen.

"Wow!" Sadness marvelled.

"Tell Disgust and Fear, ok? I'll be there in a minute,"

"Ok."

Sadness and Anger walked into the other room. With the press of a button on the control panel, Riley was set to go.

"Yes :D"
