Confusion [Inside Out fanfiction]

Chapter 9

"A brand new day!" Joy sang the morning after the dance. "No, but seriously. LAST NIGHT WAS AMAZEBALLS!"

"Ew, balls!" Disgust said.

Riley woke up smiling. Last night was the best night of her life. She checked Instagram to see the photo Mia posted getting a ton of likes. 86, to be exact.

"So cute! <3<3<3"

"Goals AF"

"Cute couples ;)"

"Awww"

Riley smiled even more. But wait- were she and Jordan dating? "Cute couples"... hmmm. She would ask him in person on Monday.

"How was the dance?" Her mom asked during a breakfast of crepes. "Did you dance with that boy?"

"Mom," Riley said. "It was fine. And for your information, I did dance with Jordan,"

"Ooooooh..."

"Mom!"

"Ok, ok, just as friends, I know!"

More than friends, actually, Riley thought. She took a bite of the crepe her father had handed her. Mmmmm.

Riley grabbed her basketball and started to walk to the court at the elementary school. She wanted to practice, because she was planning on joining basketball in a few months, and she also needed a break from everything.

Thoughts ran through her head as she walked. Last night. Jordan. Dating? What? Confusion.

"Go away!" Fear shooed the thoughts.

"This is all so... confusing," Sadness said.

Riley made it to the basketball court. A group was already there, though. And she knew exactly who they were.

"Run!" Fear shouted. Riley started running, and she ran until the elementary school was out of sight.

"Why did we run?" Joy asked the other emotions.

"Jordan was there!" Fear replied.

"And his stupid friends." Disgust said.

"We can't face him." Sadness said.

Joy sighed. "Fine. Let's go to the park and shoot hoops."
