Chapter 6
The sun peaked through my drapes, showing orange rays on the beige walls. I tossed over and looked at my husband. The raze danced on his face. I never understood how he could sleep on his back all night. Must be an army think. Because he was a light sleeper, I try to be as still as possible when waking up.
His eyes fluttered. He must of felt me staring at him.
" Good morning love". He turned over and smiled. This was an every morning thing. Even when I wake up early, he wakes up out of his sleep and says " Good morning love".
" Good morning". I rubbed his groomed beard and kissed his thick lips, morning breath and all. I'd never thought I ever would be married, I never thought I would ever be with another male again. But God wasn't having that. I met him when I was going for therapy, he was in therapy too from being in the war. It was his height that caught my attention. A solid 6'6 statue. Me being 5'5, he was a giant to me. I had no intentions on talking to him, but he did. It took him three months before I decided to go to lunch with him. The second time someone ever took me to lunch. That's when I really looked at him. His skin, smooth chocolate velvet. It was like he had no pores, his skin was flawless. His eyes were slanted, a dark coffee color, but when I finally said yes, they lit up. He didn't have the most perfect teeth in the world, but his imperfection is what made him. He had a slight gap, but I loved it.
" How is the little one?". He rubbed my little belly. I wasn't showing yet, but soon enough I know my belly would bulge. Seems like when there's a death a baby is born, my little miracle came 12 years later but I'm not complaining.
" Fine". I flipped the comforter from around me. My room was so warm. I walked to the window and took in the view. Little children walked hand in hand with there parents on there way to school. It was mid October, Halloween was coming up. The leaves were changing to their beautiful hues of different shades. People walked their dogs and some went on their morning runs. Rodney, my husband, will be joining them.
As Rodney dressed in his running gear, I walked down the
Spiral staircase of our home, to the kitchen. I took out a apple and water for Rodney and got started on my breakfast and took my vitamins for my miracle.
" Alright baby. I'm gone. I'll see you in a little bit". He kissed my lips and grabbed his food and was out the door. a short while later a light knock on my door disturbed the silence in my big house. Hard to believe I went from living in a apartment in the sixth flor in Harlem with dope heads and dealers to living in a full blown house with too friendly neighbors.
I Opened the door and my neighbor, Cindy walked in. Cindy lives across from me, the first day me and Rodney moved in she came right over with cake and flowers. We hit it off from the jump.
"Morning!" She said. The fresh croissants she brought in on a platter made my stomach rumble. " Your honey on his run I see". She sat at on one of the three stools that were placed around the marble island in the middle of the kitchen. Cindy was from the south, a southern bell is what she calls herself. I loved her accent. She bashed her thick eye lashed, I never seen a white girl wear fake eye lashes until I met her.
" Yea, something they did every morning in the army I guess". I grabbed one of the breaded delights and stuffed it in my mouth, it was still warm. I walked over to the sink and pulled out my dessert eagle from under the sink. I sat at the island with Cindy and examined the pistol for any errors.
" How's the baby?" She continued to eat.
" Fine." I took out the bullet.
" Did you figure out where he is?".
" The Virgin Islands".
" We're traveling over seas?".
" Mmmm no. We're gonna get him to come here. Well, you are at least." I looked into her bright blue eyes and back to my pistol.
She ate the little bit of left over croissant in her hand and wiped her hands together. " Just give me the word. Do I need to pack a bathing suit and stilettos?".
" Seems like your getting it". I put the pistol down and looked her in the eyes. " I need him here. I want the whole job done before I give birth".
Cindy shook her head and tool a swig of my orange juice. There was no way I was drinking after her. She had a white husband but Cindy loved her some chocolate brothers. She cheats on her husband all the time, her husband knows it too. I guess that's what happen when you marry a fifty year old .I don't trust the bitch around my man, but I trust her enough to help me get this job done.
Cindy fixes her fake double D boobs and signed. " Can't wait to see his blood spatter. That will be the best damn nut ill ever have". We both chuckled. " We'll alright, let me go. Mindy doesn't start kindergarten till next year because her birthday is so late. That's a load of horse shit. But whatever. See you later sweet cakes". She blew air kisses and pranced out the door.
I chuckled to myself, this was one crazy white girl. I put my dessert eagle back under the cabinet and proceeded up stairs to change into a jump suite and sneakers. I had to go to the grocery store.
