Chapter 15

"Let's get a tattoo". John squeezed my hand and smiled down at me. We were walking down the busy streets of Atlanta eating ice cream in this 95 degree weather.

"A what?". I made a face.

"You do know what a tattoo is right?".

"Yea, I just never thought about getting one". I ate the rest of my ice cream and threw away the cone. It felt good holding my little hands in johns big manly hands, it's been a while.

"Well watch me get one. And if you feel like you want one, you can".

I sat down as John did when he was getting his tattoo. He got a lion on his arm, the detail was incredible and he didn't flinch not once despite the fact that that was his first tattoo.

The tattoo guy, Larry, put some type of cream in the middle of my chest were I wanted my art piece and put the sketch on top. He smoothed it out then peeled it back.

Larry got a mirror and asked me of that's where I wanted it, John looked at it and gave me a nod of approval, I also approved.

As Larry got ready to tattoo the art permanently, I thought about how everything was going so smooth in ATL.

I was still a social worker at the local high school, I loved the kids. They were very funny as well. Just like any other school there was drama, there were six pregnant teens that year. From what I heard on the teachers lounge the numbers go up every year.

My relationship with John was flourishing. He was breaking down my cement wall I so carefully put up over the years. We didn't go on regular dates like every other couple do, we did things best friends would do because that's what we were in my eyes. Best friends. Go cart racing, boating, bungee jumping. It almost seemed as if it reflected the relationship I had with Maverivk.

I grimaced as Larry started, it felt like a cat scratching you over and over. The sound of the machine was annoying.

John seen the annoyance on my face and gave me is headphone and iPod to listen to. Eminem 'Loose yourself' was on.

"Mya".

"Hmmm?". John and I sat on my front porch sipping fresh lemonade. Emmy was nice enough to teach me.

"We been dating for six months, and I told my mother about you". He stopped and chewed on his bottom lip for a bit. "She wants to meet you".

"No". I swallowed the rest of my lemonade and stood up. John stood up too.

"Please? My mom wants to meet the girl I been talking about none stop".

"Then stop talking about me". I walked inside and locked the door.

Who told him to catch feelings? We're only friends, nothing more. I don't want to put my heart into anything. I was was just too scared
