"Come on follow me." Nath started pulling me to a familiar place. Even though to some people it all looked the same, to me and my friends it didn't.
After everyone went home for the night, Nath decided he had a surprise for me. We said our goodbyes and now here I am... Being dragged to who knows where.
Suddenly Nath stopped dead in his tracks. As I was about to speak he turned to face me and smiled. "We're here!" He cheered, pulling me into a tight hug.
I looked around realising where we were. Tears started forming in my eyes. The moon lake. We stopped going here after Asher's and Scarlets Mom died. This was a sacred place and still is. All we come here and we abandoned it for months if not years and it still looked like the first time we ever came here.
The lake was huge and had little sparkles glowing everywhere. The trees around the lake were decorated by fairy lights lanterns we hung up when we were kids. At the far side of the Lake a there was a small deck leading up to about 3/4 of the lake deep. The sides of the deck had wooden fences matching the floor of the deck. They were also decorated with lanterns. Finally the moon lake house. We built that house with our parents so we have somewhere to stay cozy when we meet here. We often had sleep overs here since no one ever came here and only we knew about this place. Also only our family's had the key to the house. It was quite small with only a toilet, living room, kitchen and a huge bedroom for all of us to fit in when we slept here. It was quite roomy and cozy.
I missed the old days. Back when we where kids we didn't have to worry about anything and now. Now it's different and next year will have to start worrying about our GCSE's.
Nath saw the tears forming in the corners of my tired eyes. "H-hey, what's wrong? Don't you like it here? We can g-" I interrupted him jumping into his arms and hugging him tightly.
"I'm fine! Nothing's wrong! I just remembered everything about this place." I admitted making him stop worrying.
He smiled brightly and I pulled away. He then led me to the deck were we sat at the edge, dangling our feet around over the water.
It felt nice. Peace and quite. You could only here the fish in the water. I breathed in the air around me. Fresh and clear. What was even better was the fact that it was just me and Nath here in the night sky.
I leaned into Nathaniel's shoulder. Moving closer to him. He stiffened a bit but relaxed again and moved his arm around my waist. "I'll miss this. I'll miss everything and everyone." He stayed quite, I continued "It won't be the same you know? Days like these won't exist anymore. I'll miss you all." I smiled to myself, "most importantly I'll miss you."
I felt him look down at me, "I'll miss you too, Luna.." My cheeks once again filled with red and pink. We stayed silent for a few more moments before- "I've got something for you." He said getting up.
I looked at him pull something out of his pocket. The brown bag I saw at the festival. He then pulled out a white bow from the bag and passed it to me. "Here, open it." He smiled.
I did as told. I opened to box to reveal the same silver necklace. Except this time the locket was filled with white and silver little gems. And behind them was a picture. The same one we took the day before. Of me and Nath at the park. I smiled not knowing what to say. "Nath... I- thank you.." I said almost crying.
"Here let me," he took the necklace and in hooked it. I gathered my long brown hair into a messy ponytail to the side and let him put the necklace on. After he hooked it I took the locket in my hand and looked at it again.
It was beautiful, he did so much for me. Yet I feel like I did so little. "Remember me okay? Don't forget me." I told now letting tears fall down my cheeks.
"How can I forget you?" He pulled me into a tight hug, a second passed and I pulled away.
Managing my arms around his neck I pulled him for a quick kiss. I felt him stiffen once more but then relax and melt into the kiss. That was my thank you.
Hours passed, we were still at the moon lake. Cosier than ever, wrapped up in one of the blankets, sitting in each other's arms in the house. I looked at my phone realising it was almost midnight. "Crap! I've gotta get home!" Shouting I got up and gathered my things quickly.
Nath offered walking me home to make sure nothing happens to me. We walked with our hands intertwined. Smiling at each other. "I'll really miss you.." I mumbled, hoping he didn't hear me.
