*Jay's POV*

I walked over to the side of the bed and sat down on it.

"Is it okay if I sit here?"

"Sure!"

"Okay thanks. So let's start this story off."

"I know Jake said to put it G rated, but please don't. Don't dumb it down just tell it to me straight."

"You know even when you are sick, you are exactly like your brother."

"Haha, very funny." Even though she says it in an annoyed tone, she has a smile on her face. I love that smile. I love her. Wait what?

"Seriously though, I don't think you want to hear it straight."

"No, umm."

"Jay."

"Jay. I want to remember my life. Even if the memories are bad ones, they make me the person I am, or at least was."

"Okay, I get it. You are really philosophical even when you don't remember what that even means."

"I'm not dumb you know."

"I never said you were."

"You better not."

"You sure you want me to tell it to you straight?"

"Yep, don't spare any details."

"Okay," I said as I took a deep breath. "Your mom isn't here because she is dead."

"What?"

"Your mom died about 2 days after your 5th birthday."

She looked down at her lap. Tears were starting to form in her eyes.

"How? How did she," she choked out through the sniffles and the tears.

"She committed suicide."

She froze a look of extreme terror on her face.

"What's wrong?" She is really worrying me.

"I remember. I remember her killing herself."

"Ashley calm down." She's starting to sweat.

"She's bringing the gun to her head. She's right infront of me with a gun to her head. She's talking. She says 'I love you sweetheart don't ever forget that. I'm sorry, but mommy has to leave. I promise I will see you again.' I don't understand what she is talking about." The sweat is slowly mixing with the never ending stream of tears flowing from her eyes.

"Ash stop."

"She's gives me a kiss. I smile at her. She is pulling the trigger. There's a loud bang. It hurts my ears. Now she is falling down. There is red, sticky stuff everywhere. I'm bending down and shaking her. Why won't she wake up?"

"Ash please stop." She is breathing heavily. Her eyes are terrified. She looks like she's staring death in the face and he's thirsty for her blood.

"Jake's running in. He sees her. He grabs the gun and tells me to hold on to it with all my strength. He's nervous. Why? What's going on? Why won't mom wake up? He's pulling me away and hiding me in a closet. He tells me to be quiet and no matter what I hear not to come out. He closes the door and I hear him walk back to mom. I hear Dad."

"Ash!"

"He must have found her body, he is screaming now. He's yelling at Jake. Calling him worthless. He's saying it's all Jake's fault mom is dead. Mommy is dead? There is another loud sound. Now I hear Jake screaming in agony. Make it stop. I put the gun down and run out. Dad is standing over Jake with a vase shard in his hand. Jake has a cut over his eye from where Dad cut him."

"Ashley stop, right now," I said as I grabbed her and pulled her into my embrace. She is stiff with fear. "Ashley it's okay. That was in the past."

"He sees me. He's walking towards me laughing. Why? It's not funny. 'Your mommy killed herself because of you. She couldn't live with such a big mistake staring her in the face every day.' No! I scream. She killed herself because of you! You're the mistake! You're an idiot and a big jerk! He hits me. Then he cuts me on the arm. I'm bleeding pretty bad."

"Ssh, Ashley breathe. Okay? Just breathe."

"I'm so scared. I just want the torment to end."

"It's okay," I said stroking her hair as she loosens up.

"The memory feels so real. It felt like it was only a few minutes ago."

"Well, it wasn't. You are safe now."

"Jay, I don't know why, but I feel so safe in your arms now that I know your name."

"Ashley," I said as I pulled back and looked her in her beautiful blue eyes.

She started to lean forward. She was looking at my lips. I leaned forward as well. Our lips embraced in a passionate kiss. The kiss wasn't filled with lust, like my kisses with Lilly. It didn't feel like something pointless. It was filled with love and purpose.

Perfect.

Blissful.

Passionate love.

Nothing, but love. The kind of love that takes years to develop. The kind that everyone hopes they will experience at least once in their lifetime. I hope it never ends.
