Chapter Seventeen: The Plan

Arabella's P.O.V

I sat next to Elena and listen to everyone explain the plan on how they we're going to lure Klaus back to Mystic falls and kill him. "Do you really think that this is gonna work?" Elena asks while looking around at everyone who were still discussing minor details about the plan. "Of course it'll work, Stephan heard none of the plan so all we have to do is have you stab me in front of him so that he can call Klaus and tell him that I'm dead." Michael says casually and hands Elena a dagger that had once been stuck in Elijah's back.

I left the room and sat on the staircase not wanting to watch what was about to happen. I bit my lip as I heard Michael cry out in pain before everything became silent. No one spoke a word as Stephen called Klaus who answered after a few rings. I tensed up as I listened to their conversation and immediately recognized the voice on the other end of the line.

*Stephan and Klaus's conversation*

Klaus: why are you calling Stephan? I thought I said only to call me if it's an emergency or something to do with Bell.

Stephan: it's good news for you, Michael is dead.

*End of conversation*

I had stopped listening at that point because my head was aching as memories came rushing back to me. I remembered who Niklaus was and what he meant to me. A small cry escaped my lips and I quickly covered my mouth with my hands feeling my eyes water.

I looked up when I noticed someone standing in front of me and seen Stephen staring down at me with his phone in his hand. "He wants to talk to you." Stephan says in a stiff voice while I hesitantly take the phone from him knowing that the gang was watching me intently wondering why he wanted to speak to me.

"Hello." I say softly hearing Nik's heavy breathing on the other end of the line. "I wanna talk to you Bell, without anyone hearing our conversation." He says while I bite my lip and look at the others. "Okay." I say and stand up running outside so that none of the others could hear us talking.

"How could you do that to me Nik, I never would have thought you would have used compulsion on me." I say once I knew for sure that the others wouldn't hear me especially Michael. "I'm so sorry Bell but you are my weakness, he'd use you against me and most likely kill you." Nik says with an exasperated sigh knowing it was going to be hard for him to gain my trust back after this stunt he pulled. "He doesn't know where you are Klaus, I'd be safer with you." I say softly letting him know that I was upset with him because I called him Klaus instead of Nik. "Bell, my beauty please, I feel that you are safer with your friends, I can't live without you, I've done it once and I won't do it again." He growls causing me to shiver and lean back against a tree. "I can't live without you either, damnit Nik I miss and need you so much." I say softly and squeeze my eyes shut to hold back my tears. "Oh my Bell just hold on, I'll be there soon don't worry, sense my father is dead I can be with you without a worry in the world." He says causing me to tense up because I knew that his father wasn't really dead. "Nik.." I start to say wanting to tell him the truth about his father. "I'm sorry love but i'm afraid I have to go, I'll see you soon Bell, I love you my beauty." He says before hanging up causing me to whimper and let my tears fall. "I love you too, my beast." I say softly full of guilt.

I walk back to the house and give Stephan back his phone noticing that Michael was up and about again. "Ah Arabella just the hybrid I was looking for." Michael says before using his vampire speed to pin me against the wall by my neck. I gasp for breath as the others tense up and stare at us in shock. "I should have know that you were Niklaus's mate, his mark that you bare says it all." He says with a smirk causing my eyes to widen slightly and look around at the others who stared at me in disbelief except for Imogen who had a knowing look. "So what are you going to do to me?" I ask bravely not wanting to let him know that I was terrified on the inside. "Oh I believe we all are having a change in plans, we were going to use Katherine as the decoy and say that she was Elena but sense we have you it'll be much easier for us to lure him out." He says with a smirk causing me to glare down at him. "It won't work, I refuse to help you kill my mate." I growl knowing my eyes were glowing yellow showing everyone how angry I was. "Oh I never expected for you to help us, that's why I'm locking you up." He says and before I can even think about it I'm being locked in the basement where they'd kept Stephen.

"No let me out!" I shout and slam my body against the door trying to break it down. I gasp when the door swings open and someone stabs me with a syringe full of revain causing me to cough and wheeze while collapsing on the floor. I lay there and look at the small window seeing Michael smirking down at me. "Sweet dreams Arabella, soon you'll be seeing your mate again." He says while my vision goes in and out while I fight to stay awake. "No, I won't let you hurt Nik." I whisper not able to raise my voice any louder. "Oh sweet innocent Arabella, I don't plan on hurting Niklaus, I plan on killing him." Is the last thing I hear before everything goes black.
