The day that the boy took his first breath was one of the best days of the Mutou's lives. Mrs. Mutou smiled as she cradled the crying newborn in her tired arms. The newborn ceased its crying and looked up at his mother and flashes the cutest smile, giggling softly.

"He's so beautiful..so precious." The father said quietly with the proudest smile.

"What shall you name him?" The doctor asked politely, clutching a clipboard in his hand.

"Yugi," the mother replied, "My precious Yugi."

The two could never be happier. Neither could the dark figure in the corner. It wore nothing but black,a shadow as it seemed. A sly grin plastered on its face, it's eyes faintly glowed a blood red.

"Soon little one." It thought, "Soon..."

Gabrielle Mutou cooed at the little infant as she walked through the door of her home, her husband trailing behind her. She could finally bring Yugi home from the hospital after the doctors had finished their analysis.

"This is your new home, Yugi." Gabrielle smiled as her son looked around confusedly. "It's okay, you'll get used to it. But hey, do you wanna see something cool?" She asked excitedly. Rushing up the stairs, she turned the hall and opened the door to a room, beautifully decorated with the theme of yellow, black and magenta. A small orange crib sat in one of the sides of the room. Two chests labeled Toys supported multiple empty picture frames.

"This'll be your room, sweetie." The woman looked down at her child as he examined the room closely. Then he put on a happy smile and laughed cutely.

"I knew you would like it!" Gaby smiled brightly.

"In my opinion, it's utterly terrifying." The dark figure frowned, his arms crossed as he examined the brightly-themed room and cringed as the bright colors irritated him. Even though he was eager,he forced himself to wait until the woman left.

His prayers were answered.

"I have something for you, Yugi." Gaby leaned down and carefully place her son into the crib, "don't go anywhere." She giggled at her own joke and hurried out of the nursery.

The black shadow smirked as it made its way to the crib, the black smoke filling the air. Looking down at the baby boy, he put on a soft smile and extended one of his hands to the child, "Hello, Little One.." He greeted softly. Yugi looked at the man in bewilderment for a moment before grabbing the man's index finger with one of his chubby ones, smiling and giggling.

"I know that you like me; I like you as well." The figure chuckled faintly as the infant played with his finger. "Soon you'll be mine. And we'll be happy together." The darker one ghosted a hand over the baby's bright, amethyst eyes and cupped its hand on its cheek. The smallest of blush flushed the baby's cheeks as it looked up at the stranger with big eyes.

"See," the man started, "you're already warming up to me."

The baby giggled more and gripped the finger tighter. The shadow chuckled as it settled its other hand on the baby's small, soft chest and pushed down gently;the baby's happy giggles ceased almost immediately as its beautiful eyes darted up at the stranger's face in fear.

"Do not be afraid little one; you will get this back when you're older."

And with a flick of the man's wrist,he took the baby's soul.

Poor Yugi's eyes went from a cheery amethyst to a dead black. His grip loosened, the stranger's finger falling. Tears welled up in the infant's eyes until they spilled over and a loud cry filled the room. The stranger gave a satisfied smile and held the soul in his hands. It floated as if it was a mist,a cheering fog.

"Sixteen years my little one," he said quietly, though it could be heard over the loud bawling, "it'll only be sixteen years. Then you can have this back." Then he turned away, "if only you knew.."

And with that, he was gone. The temperature rose back to normal; it was no longer cold.

Gabrielle came rushing back into the nursery when she catch an earful of her son's fit. "Yugi?" She picked him up from the cage with a soft, loving smile and cradled him in her arms,"stop crying, Babycakes. Mommy's here."

The child abated its crying and puts its right thumb in its mouth, revealing his black eyes.

Gabrielle nearly fainted when she saw the sight. His eyes...they're black?! But they're supposed to be purple! Lilac!

Amethyst!

"Jacob!" She called for her husband frantically. "Jacob! Jacob, please hurry! Something's wrong with Yugi!"

The baby's eyelids suddenly drooped low. Yugi fought to stay awake, but pitifully lost the battle. He drifted into deep sleep.

The stranger frowned as he tucked the soul away, "Your time will come soon. And he'll be all mine."
