I might be wrong, but I think that he was having one of his infamous anxiety attacks.
The vampiric visitor made his way downstairs casually after hearing his love's beauteous scream. With the same saucy smirk, he closely approached his crying Aibou and crouched to his level.
"Beautiful, isn't it?"
Yugi slowly lifted his head from his tear-soaked lap, his eyes shadowed by his golden bangs.
"Your grandfather was such a rare man. You don't gather generous souls like his every centennial."
Clenching his fists and gritting his teeth, Yugi smothered his rage down, thinking that it would be best to allow the man to finish his monologue.
Yami's tone suddenly took a deadly nosedive, "But this man was evil. He was planning to betray the ones who loved him." Then he placed a gentle hand on Yugi's smaller shoulder, "you, Yugi."
If Yugi still had his soul, it would've snapped in half. In the blink of an eye, he took Yami Atharos' hand and yanked it horizontally, hoping that the action would've snapped it.
Instead of pain, Yugi saw that Yami was smiling.
Not a half-smile. Not a jerky, lying grin.
It almost seemed fatherly.
Not sensing the satisfaction of seeing him hurt, Yugi moved to another idea. Releasing the hand, he moved his hands to the vampire's neck. Wrapping his fingers around his throat tightly, he forced all of his strength into his palms and prayed to see purple or blue hues.
What he got scared him.
Instead of his face turning colors, Yami's eyes turned into a hard yet gentle purple.
Yugi gasped. 'Amethyst..'
Now, you may be thinking that Mister Atharos isn't suffering from Yugi's anger-influenced tactics, but...in all honesty..he's running out of air. Gradually, but he knew what rage could do to people. Someone drugged with animosity can go on their rampage for hours. However, Yami knew Yugi. He knew that Yugi was far too passive to do any real damage.
And he knew just how to get out of this situation. Leaving no trace.
Staring deep into Yugi's eyes, Yami spoke delicately, "Can you really do this, Yugi?"
The adolescent's eyes widen. He tightened his grip and growled under his breath, "When I'm done with you, you're gonna wish you had that cloak to hide your stupid face." He threatened menacingly.
"Do you really have the heart to do this? You know that you wouldn't hurt a fly."
"I've killed plenty of pests before. I am not afraid to squash this one."
Okay, now it was starting to hurt.
"I know you can't do this, Yugi, so just let go. I don't want to have to make you."
"You killed Grandpa...do you seriously think that I'm gonna let you go after this?! No no no..I'm gonna make sure you pay!" Yugi felt the tears bubbling back.
"Please, allow me to explain!" Yami rested his unused hands on Yugi's clamped ones and rubbed the soft skin on the knuckles. Surprised at his action, Yugi's grip loosened by only a percent. "Your grandfather never loved you the way you think he did."
And to Yami's surprise, Yugi's strength increased tenfold. He gagged inaudibly and continued gingerly, "He betrays you in the future. If I didn't kill him then he would've hurt you just like your parents!"
