" What are you doing here?" I ask
" Your dad flew in and said he wanted to see you again" she says
My mom and my dad broke up when I was 5 years old. He moved away to America and I haven't seen him since. That doesn't mean I'm excited that he's here.
" Long time no see son" he says
" Please um.... Come have a seat" I say opening the door wider
They walk in and we have a seat on the couch. They sit on the couch in front of me so they're facing me. The atmosphere is awkward.
" I thought I had a son" he says
My dad isn't happy with LGBTQ people. He doesn't know I'm gay and have a boyfriend. He doesn't know I have a son and that I went missing. He knows nothing.
" You did. Now you don't" I say
Did he say that because of my long hair? I'm not dressed in "girly" clothes today. I have a blue denim short sleeved button up shirt, black skinny jeans, a bowler hat, and black matte doc martens.
" It's been so long, how old are you now?" He asks
" It's been 15 years. I'm 20 years old" I say with no emotion
" Why don't you catch your dad up" mom says
" Seriously, why are you here? Why do you all of a sudden want to see me again?" I ask
" Jeonghan" mom says
" You're my son. I feel terrible for missing all of those years with you. I want to fix our relationship" he says
" Did you think about that when you left mom with me all alone to pay bills on her own? No, you just took your ass to America so fu--" mom cuts me off
" Jeonghan stop. Let's talk about something else" she says
" Do you have a girlfriend?" He asks
I look at my mom and she shakes her head meaning not to say anything yet.
" No" I say
" Why not? You should have a girlfriend by now" he says
" I don't want a girlfriend" I say
I hear footsteps coming down the stairs. Seungcheols coming down. He's going to be so nervous. He hasn't even met my mom yet and now he's meeting my dad on the same day. He reaches the bottom and looks surprised.
" Oh my god. Oh miss Yoon AnnyeongHaseyo" he says deeply bowing
"Aigoo Seungcheol-ah, so great to finally meet you" she says
" Why didn't you tell me she was coming?" He asks walking over to where I'm sitting
" I didn't know" I say as he sits next to me
" Who's this?" Seungcheol asks
" This is my dad" I say rolling my eyes
" He exists? I mean....Mister Yoon AnnyeongHaseyo" he says bowing again
" Who's he?" Dad asks
" His boyfriend" Seungcheol answers
" ...Your gay?" He asks
