The Reaping Part 2 (Aqua)

I wore a faded blue dress as I stood amongst the Many citizens of district 4 all blending in with the same coloured clothes.I had hoped all night for something to happen to cancel or at most delay the reaping but my prayers were not answered.Now I stood and watched as the lady gave them a bright smile.How much is she paid for that smile?

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen."She had a shrill voice."as you all know,today is a happy day,happy,happy day."

I sighed as I heard the woman say happy.

"Today two from among you will be chosen to represent this district in the first ever hunger games."She smiled,her bright make up was making Me uncomfortable.how could she be feeling cheerful at this time?

"Now without further adue,I'll call out the lucky girl's name"She headed to the great ball and spun it.As soon as the ball stopped,she dipped her hand in and retrieved a folded piece of paper.She read it carefully and then cleared her throat.

"Aqua rivers"

Just like that,my name was taken.I didn't know when this happened but my feet started moving and I found myself standing on top of the stage as my mother cried out.

"What a lovely girl!"The announcer clapped her hands then headed to another ball."now for the boys."

She did the same thing once again and pulled out a piece of neatly folded paper.She opened it up and then called out his name.

"Austin blue."I knew him.everyone did,especially all the girls.He was popular at school,in the while district actually.I turned to see him ascending the stairs to the stage.The announcer shook his hand and then gave him a bright smile.

"Happy hunger games,may the stars be with you."She smiled and then ushered me and Austin towards a train as my family cried behind me.

I knew right then that I couldn't bear to think what they'd do if I died so I made up my mind to win the games,and I wouldn't let anyone get in her way.
